So Arsene is keeping with his youngsters!! They are a bunch of talented youngsters but if we do put out our best 11 which hughes has already said he is going to do then i will expect us to get through!

Arsenal boss Arsène Wenger has revealed that he will stick with the youngsters for next month’s crunch Carling Cup clash at Manchester City.

The Frenchman has no qualms about the challenge his Gunners’ will face at Eastlands, with Mark Hughes’ already saying that he’ll put out a full strength side for the match on December 2nd.

In the competition so far, Wenger’s youngsters have triumphed against West Brom and Liverpool.

“[It will be] Interesting, exciting and a good test,” he told Arsenal TV Online.

“We will be faithful to our policy and of course put a team out who has a good chance to win the game.”

The Frenchman also expressed his view that any side capable of winning a tie should be considered a ‘full side’.

“If you call a full side 11 top players, then we will play a full side,” he said. “For me a full side means a team who has a chance to win any game.”

One player who is likely to be involved is Mexican starlet Carlos Vela. The 21-year-old’s most notable performances last season came in the Carling Cup, and according to reports, he is close to signing a new contract with the club.

Gooner Talk’s Predicted Line-Up:

Fabianski
Gilbert – Senderos – Silvestre – Gibbs
Wilshere – Ramsey – Merida

No, We have no right to be saying we are going to find it easy because it wont be but with our first 11 full of superstars, We should have enough creativity and stamina to take us through! Citys legs should last longer than arsenals kids!

it is a good arsenal line up and not many weak links. It will be tough, but I will be very happy with any kind of win 1-0 or 9-8 or 0-0 and a win on pens. Semi's beckon and the rags are going to be ours for the taking.

Wonderwall why have you locked Crossan's thread ?

In a week where nothing important is going on, his question was hardly controversial. If anything it might have led to an interesting discussion.

Pretty feeble minded.

He could of course, pose the same question about Pearce , Keegan or whoever, would that also be a sin ?

Lighten up.

Allways tough when he plays the kids for the Carling Cup, more dangrous on thier day than the first team in this comp - especially as they know that if they get through to the final they'll probably play, PLUS Wenger uses it to see how individuals perform and they know if they put in good performances in this comp they may get a first team call up...

Still I think we'll nick it - but its going to be a close high scoring game...

I prefer not to use the PM process. If it can't be said out in the open, then I don't see why it should be said under covers.

However, I'm sure you have your reasons. It just seemed like a reasonable topic to discuss.

This will be the ultimate test of this squads focus, they obviously weren't focused and not in the least bit professional when taking on the likes of Burnley, Birmingham and Wigan, no doubt just expecting to roll up into town, play the ball about for a bit and win easily, they got a rude awakening, and at 2-0 up against Fulham with only half and hour to go, a top side would have increased their margin or saw the game out without any troubles or hitch, not City, they imploded because they lack that professional attitude and fight required to make it........the squad lacks a leader, and we all know who that role should be completed by and who is lacking somewhat in that himself, I don't think I need to mention the RAGs name again.

If they cannot beat Arsenals kindergarten team, then they want shooting, and that RAG who occupies a room with an incorrect job description on the door, should be removed.......if I or you had spent a fraction of the funds he has, then I don't think I would be asking to much to dispose of a school team or even relegation fodder and second class teams like the ones we have drawn against.

Just shows what Arsene Wenger thinks of our so called "superstar" team if he is confident his kids would be able to beat them.

Just the same week, a so called unprofessional team waltzed into town against a bottom 3 side and were 2-0 up with 16 minutes to play, yet those useless players obviously were crap and had no heart or soul, let the team back in and drew 2-2!! Funny that you quote how unprofessional we are in a thread about playing Arsenal. Oh the Irony.

We were at home, and that other side were playing a better unit than Fulham, and a side that had at least attacked them a some point in the game before staging a comeback, thanks to a shambolic penalty and crap keeping.

Arsenal it happens too maybe once or twice a season, under Hughes to City it seems to NOT happen once or twice a season.....the only games this season where we have been "professional" in attitude and spirit for the game is the opener at Blackburn and West Ham at home, I cannot remember any others.

I dont know why I bite, I really dont. You have just defended arsenal and bigged up west ham and also dissed fulham who went to onto the the next game the following week and demolished liverpool.

We came from behind 3 times in the derby and showed amazing heart, attitude and professionalism by not letting their heads drop IMO. Oh and as your memory seems awful these days (or selective) we lost that game.

Tough match no matter what their side. Their 'reserves/kids' beat our first team a few seasons ago in the same competition so I'm certainly not complacent and nor should our players be!
