He told journalists they "take it up the arse", grabbed his crotch and insisted the world's media should "suck it and keep on sucking". Fifa punished him according to Article 57, which relates to "offensive gestures or language".

Best thing he's done in years, however what does a 2 month ban actually have any baring on, aren't the next round of friendlies about 3 months away?
Banned from what?
In the words of my Old Man, "Life will never be the same without Man City, so get it in while you can".

He sure doesn't hold back on the reporters there does he?.......and for that one who introduced himself, what a pleasent greeting Maradona gave him.
Technically although he might miss one game and maybe the WC draw, it isn't really a punnishment, his drugs would cost him more than the fine he has had to pay.

What a top guy.
I suppose his attitude goes a little way to explaining why Carlos was so pissed off aswell.

Think he's Irish but it's a bit closer to home:
He immediately slapped a ban on all media, branding reporters "f****** so f****** slimy".
Kinnear also labelled ex-players who have questioned his return to the game as "*****", as he got increasingly irate.
The 61-year-old had an angry exchange with Mirror Sport after we revealed on Tuesday that he gave his first team the day off on his first day in charge.
When told it was a valid issue to raise, Kinnear responded: "It is none of your f****** business. What the f*** are you going to do? You ain't got the balls to be a f******* manager. F******* day off. Do I want your opinion? Do I have to listen to you?"

I think everyone in Argentina is thinking "why couldn't they ban him for a whole year?"
They got themselves into a situation of employing an unsackable person (because of his national hero status) and now are stuck with someone who's not only a hopeless manager but completely barmy as well.
“I may be drunk, Miss, but in the morning I will be sober and you will still be ugly.”

It must be pretty bad having a national hero talk to you like that. I bet the reporter is still fuming, and would love to see him match reports the next time Argentina don't win!

Maradona's comments are a bit like what I imagine Taggart says at the end a night of heavy drinking, but just came across this
football blog previewing the weekend's Premier League fixtures by former manager Frank Gregan, and he comes out with a pretty stupid argument, that justice should not take into account the position of who's being punished. So whether you earn a normal salary, or a footballer's salary, fines for inappropriate comments should be the same, and hence £20,000 in Ferguson's case was probably too much. The man seems to have no concept of punishment as a deterrent. If outspoken figures aren't punished in a way that deters them from repeating the crime, then what's the point of punishing them. His really is an incredibly strange point of view!
