I SAY THIS AS THE BRASILIANS ARE SAYING THAT RONHINO HAS NOT BEEN TREATED CORRECTLY - LET,S FACE IT, HE HAD AN ANKLE INJURY AND HAS BEEN OUT FOR OVER 3 MONTHS................THATS NOT NORMAL SURELY????

Brazil boss Dunga has reassured Manchester City that Robinho is unlikely to be risked against Oman on Tuesday.

But the captain of the 1994 World Cup winners fuelled suggestions that Robinho's injured ankle has not been receiving the best possible treatment.

Has Robinho had a reoccuring ankle problem since before he came here, and wasnt he playing on it last season when he should have been rested, and wont we need him in Jan when Ade goes to the African Nations? I reckon our club docs are great, and presume they are protecting him.

Yeah they will be top notch but as a little side note, I know for a fact that player's will have their club doctor report they have an injury if it's conveinient (i.e shit internationals etc). Not sayin in this case obviously, but it does happen.

I work for the General Medical Council and Dunga is talking shite

UK registered Drs are amongst the best in the world...if not THE best

After Shipman our whole registration process was reevaluated and we have the most stringent criteria for Drs to work on these shores.

I'm not saying there won't be eminent specialists who are brazillian...but they certainly won't be working for the Brazillian national side...just no money in it...all the top docs will be in private practice elsewhere

Exactly mate. It appears that clubs are just playing lip service to the medical oppinions and signing players without regard to them being potential long term crocks.

No point paying all these big medical fees, they may as well just donate the dough to Christies and cut the doctors out of the food chain!

I am a medical doctor. I don't want to say too much because of reasons of confidentiallity. But here it goes:

1. Generally speaking, being a club doctor is not well paid and done for non-finacial reasons(i.e. own interest).

2. I know of one then fairly desperate Norwegian premier team that got the chance to buy a foreign striker. He was an experienced international with a record of injuries and, when fit, goals. The doctor examined him and didn't recommend it. The club gave him a short contract(rest of the season). He scored the goals that saved the club from relegation. The player didn't get a new contract and was freed. The doctors, again in general, do a verdict and then it's down to the manager and/or the board to do the calculation of risk/reward.

3. It seems hard for some football people to say no to talent. It's obvious to anyone that with severe asthma you will be struggling. If you haven't got the soft tissue there is a tendency to just call it an injury. From a strictly scientific point of view, however, both are the same: The person lacks the health for top level sport. Then again the real world also corrects the medical science and the truth is often not clear cut: Gary Mabbutt played for Spurs and was a diabetic. Asa Hartford had a heart condition. On the other side, I don't know of any current players with such diagnoses.

4. British doctors are among the best in the world, no doubt about it. But a Brazillian doctor should not be underestimated because of his/hers nationallity. Believe me - as with footballers you better judge your doctor by the individual and not the nationallity!

5. As for the case of Robinho, I can't say much simply because I don't know. Fractures come in a variety of types and severeties. With other injuries, like a ruptured achilles tendon, I know with the diagnosis app for how long the player should be out.

Well City's are not the real deal.....they aren't even real doctors!.

Pass Crocked Snapped Cruiciates his medical when he is injured in plastercast.
Cannot dignose Robinho's injury properly (no wonder they didn't want Brazil's med team to see him, they would find out what is wrong!!).
Johnson's "groin problem" last 2 years!!.
Kompany has a sore toe that turns into a injury layoff that keeps him out for first 4 months of new season (including pre-season), no sore toe does that!.

In short I think our medical team at City are beyond pathetic and we are lucky that we have as many fit players as we do.

I wonder what idiot selected them?

I presume clubs like City have several doctors and other medical professionals. I know of one doctor that worked at City as he was my GP, Dr Eaclaers, and he worked from West Gorton Med Centre. Don't know if he still works for City but he was a shit-hot doctor imo.

Eh Riggers, I'd like to know where you get your info as in my understanding, nearly all that you've posted there is Bollox.

RSC: From my undertsanding, RSC had already had his operation and was in rehab to get himself sorted and back into shape. The injury was well known and it was the future RSC that we were buying.

Robinho: From the reports eminating from all sections of the media, it was Brazil who failed to diagnose the problem after he was injured on international duty. It was only when he returned and our medical staff had checked him out that the injury was uncovered. They then set him a schedule and training plan to get him back in the side and they now have been vindicated by the fact that Dunga has not played him. Nearly ready, just not quite!

Johnno: Well if you don't know that one, I seriously wonder how long you've actually been supporting City!!!

Kompany: Vinny had been suffering from a toe problem months before the end of last season. I seem to remember it being reported that he was taking injections before the game to relieve the pain when we played Hamburg in the UEFA Cup. The problem was that we needed him in the side whereas now, we have cover. So, in reality, they knew exactly what was going on with him but he played on regardless due to squad depth.

So, to coin your phrase, 'I wonder which idiot written that'!!!

One question Riggers, how long have our current medical staff been at the club?

You really are a first class idiot aren't you??.

For a start mate, with language like that and personal insults (which WW did state had to stop) you will be the one looking at a ban, I did follow the rules, I talked about the title of this thread and kept it on topic, if you don't like it great, but wind you neck in.

I am not a WUM regardless of what a few of the minority on here think, and as for that other word, people only on this board behind a keyboard and screen would say that....I guarentee you NOBODY on here would call me the other word I have had used at me in the past to my face, or well.....they would have maybe made a big mistake :)

rigsby the idea of the forum is to debate the points. You have made a very bold statement and others have answered you in detail and asked pertinent points regarding your information on the doctors we used. It would be bad manners not to reply.

I am over him, I never even mentioned the manager.

This is the type of comment I mean about people using Hughes to bash me when I haven't even thought of or mentioned him anywhere in the comment they are quoting.....you not the first, and I bet you won't be the last.

Beefy makes some sensible comments below, but Johnson has been out for 2 years with a groin injury problem, granted it might have got more injuries than that, but the fact that nothing has ever been disclosed to the press/media etc leads me to believe that he was still suffering from that, and with the best medical care that they should be getting, it wouldn't take 2 years, hell it wouldn't take that long if you leave it to heal yourself and saw nobody!

If we were buying the future RSC, we should have waited until the future, we wouldn't exactly face any competition for a player of his calibre would we?
