THE MEDIA Vs CITY

Postby john68 » Mon Nov 23, 2009 1:58 pm

While we City fans were analysing our draw at Anfield, understandably, concentrating on our blue point of view, it seems that the result has caused the gutter press "Friends of the Scousers" to unlock their toolboxes and dig out their hatchets. The Anfield media machine has rolled into action.
Saturdays result compounds the perceived Scouse disaster. Another 2pts dropped at home, in a week that could also see them dumped out of Europe...They have now dropped 19pts in 13 games and are lying in 7th, 5pts from a top 4 place, with Spurs, Villa and City sat above them...They appear to be going backwards fast and that is not only a disaster for them but a disaster too for the gutter press, top 4 arse lickers.

Do the gutter press look analytically at the scouser's mess and report accordingly? Or do they divert attention away and do a hatchet job elsewhere?...
CHOP 1...Alan Hanson reckons City can't make the top 4 but based on the fact that Gerrard and Torres are big game players Liverpool will.
CHOP 2...A whole host of City players are reported to want away from City.
CHOP 3...Mourinho can finish ther job that Hughes started.
CHOP 4...With all of City's resources, our start is just not good enough.
CHOP 5...Jim Cassell is on the verge of leaving, due to the breakdown of his relationship with Hughes.

I'm not saying there isn't any truth in any of that but it does seem to be a little negatively one sided. We know the sky 4 have kept the gutter press from going hungry over the last few years and that they don't want City to spoil the party. But is it merely coincidence that all this media vitriol against our club comes just after the scousers seem to have ended their top 4 challenge and are in danger of failing in the CL?

It is only to be expected given our resouces. Its water off a ducks back to me and its about time we all accepted that this is the way it will be until start to play much, much better and start to win things. If/ when thats starts to happen, things will change, but our performances over the last 2 months has given the media all the ammunition they need.

I agree with both John's and Blue's comments in here - It is decidedly one sided from the red-tops but this should come as no great surprise to any of us. Whilst we continue to perform in the style of recent weeks, we give the media all the ammunition that they need and will continue to do so until we become a successful outfit. That won't happen overnight & won't be achieved by winning the Carling Cup as we can all see the headlines for that one already.

There's a growing sense of impatience amongst our supporters at the moment, understandable if like me having started to follow the dream in 1978 you had fucl all to cheer about, but succumbing to the mind games of the gutter press should not be something that we all aspire to. We all need to ignore the shite that is written / made up regarding the club it's sole purpose is to undermine and de-stabilise us. Those amongst us who are luckly to be able to watch most games live either in the flesh or via a stream / tv screen are capable of making our own minds up and I for one don't need a hack with an agenda whose on a winner either way to tell me about the direction of my team and club.

When the success does come the stories will turn themselves around - and so will the hacks never failing to point out in their quests for a seat at the top table, that they told us so all the time. You couldn't make it up - Well actually, there's quite a few journo's out there who do - regularily...

BECOMING THE RICHEST CLUB IN THE WORLD,WE WERE ALWAYS GOING TO BE A TARGET FOR THE PRESS.

AT LEAST OUR PROFILE IS THROUGH THE ROOF THROUGHOUT THE WORLD...BEFORE NOONE KNEW WHO WE WERE AND NOW EVEN THE PEASANTS ON EASTER ISLAND KNOW WHO MCFC IS.
THEY SAY SWEARING IS DUE TO A LIMITED VOCABULARY. I KNOW THOUSANDS OF WORDS, BUT I STILL PREFER "FUCK OFF" TO "GO AWAY"
