Seen as though other players are getting praise I thought I'd start a thread for the lad.
He's had deserved criticism for a while, but tonight he was outstanding. Won most 50/50 balls he went for, put in some brilliant tackles and pushed forward supporting SWP when he could and when it was right to.

Hopefully he can kick on from this and get back to the form we saw under Svenald.

He had a good game last night but he is still the weakest link by far

Agree. He played quite well but he is not the threat going forward and the rock at the back we thought he was going to develop into.

21 yr old kid that will get better. Fans seem to forget how old he is.

We're talking about Micah not Bridge mate. The gap between Lescott, who had a good game as well, and Bridge was massive!

He had a good game and hopefully he will produce more performances like yesterdays. He's a young boyo and may still improve to fulfil the hopes we all had for him when he first burst out onto the scene.

I always thought Micah was quick but traore left him for dead on two occasions last night. This is the same traore that SWP ripped a new arsehole, SWP cant be that much quicker than micah surely?

I think when a player is running at you and they manage to get the ball past you and you have to turn then the attacking players is going to come out on top most of the time.

Doug might be able to tell us where he comes in regards to being the fastest from training?

Funny I wasn't that impressed with Richards last night, still caught out up field ambling around like he has all the time in the World and SWP ending up racing back to cover. I accept how old he is, but I don't know whether its a lack of a dominate person in the back four telling him to get his ar@e back or the fact that it is a position we do need to strengthen - time is on his side he can come back and learn, or if not it isn't as if he (or any of the others) are irreplaceable

Sorry to say that is also what I saw - and even though it was his best game for ages it only confirmed for me how much we need a new RB - There is a clear example on the highlights clip - 9mins in - or 54mins into the game - you will see Vela breaking - it might be due to a bad pass from Kolo - but just watch the way Micah ambles back

Also his passing is simply not good enough - it is generally square to Shaun on the line leaving Shaun to take the player(s) on - no intelligence to pass the ball into space for Shaun to run onto - do not want to be negative after such a great performance - but these are basic faults that I do not think will ever go away - and they are not new

But I agree - Kolo should be giving him a rocket during the game and the coaches in training to get him out of this ambition to be the worlds best jogger he seems to have

I still think no matter how bad he's been this season I would still pick him over Zabeleta right now. We was screaming for Zabs to come back after Micahs bad start but that didn't work out well. Plus Zabs seems to pick up a yellow in nearly every game he plays unlike Micah. I also think Micah helps SWP's game as they link really well together I mean Micahs been back 2 games and SWP has played well for 2 games..

It's a toss up between the 2 right backs we have as both have their weaknesses. At the moment it's possibly Micah and I think I did say his repsonse to being dropped was to work hard in training which he certainly did. I can assure you that in training and beyond there is plenty of focus on positional stuff but also the coaching staff are always at him about recovering if ever anything breaks down and he needs to get back to position. It baffles me like everyone else though in matches when he doesn't seem to recognise the urgency of situations. It's as if he simply doesn't have engine and stamina to get back but I don't think that's it and it must come down to a stupid lack of concentration.

lets just support the lad and when he is flying we can say we stuck by him and look what we have now a rock at the back, not great on the ball but an athlete, Look at Keita at Barca he looked like a jonny last yr now he has stolen Toure's place in the side and looks a million dollars week in week out.

Here Here Vhero. SWP, when on form , is just as good as Lennon if not better.

I agree with this. When you consider coaches like Capello go for ultra intense analysis after matches, with the laser pen pointing out players not working hard enough to track back, I can't help but think Richards just isn't right in his attitude for high level competition. And that's not an area where age can be used as an excuse - young player should have the hunger to work the hardest and prove they deserve to be regulars. He has so much potential and ability, this is what frustrates me the most about him. I'd say it's a lack of character. But when I look at this:

I just think play the beast at centre back where his work rate is less of an issue.

Centre back???? did you see what happened last season with him in the middle?

He doesnt have the mental capacity to play CB, he has no positional or spacial awareness and does not look round to see where the striker is, he just drifts towards the ball and leaves huge unmarked gaps.

no no no no

Sorry but this lad will never play for England again.

You bunch of hypocritical cunts, you have the fucking gall to abuse posters who criticise Hughes, but you have no fucking problems cutting down one of our own players, how about a bit of fucking support for him instead? Surely if anyone needs the confidence boost of having the crowd on his side it's the players, not the fucking manager. Either that or shut the fuck up about both.
