Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

As we come to the end of another decade the City mag have started a poll for our best player of the noughties.
The 10 players up for the honour are listed above. Who gets your vote?
For me it has to be Dunne, not only did he play for us for most of the decade but he was our 4 time Player Of The Year and captain.

I went for SWP. Goat is probably my fave player but SWP is the best and has been doing it for us for best part of decade.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

I have voted for Dunne. He has been an absolute legend at our club and we thank him for everything!
Every single one of these players deserve a mention and have done great things for us and some will carry on to do so but Dunne is the stand out man.

Anelka's the best and Goater's my favourite.
But something about Richard Dunne symbolises Manchester City over the last decade. Perhaps it was that he was sometimes brilliant, sometimes shocking, or that he's come back from a really low point to make good of himself. Maybe it's just that he was here for fookin ages. But either way, it's gotta be Dunne.

Went for the Goat, although like most of the other selsctions he barely made it into the decade!
Dunne (and maybe SWP if you accept that his sale was forced by a bankrupt City) are the only worthy ones to play a lot in this decade, but I'm afraid I have too many memories of Dunnie blunders skulking away in my memory banks.

Dunnie for me. True City legend and was sad to see some people turning on him toward the end, shame he couldn't have stayed at least one more season and made it through the whole 10 years.
Would have been Shaunie if it wasn't for his dalliance with the rent boys.

Ali Benarbia for me. I was tempted to go for Sun Jihai, but Ali B just edges him out.
But please take my opinion with a pinch of salt as I have been to about four matches in the last eight and a half seasons.
Your right leg I like; I've got nothing against your right leg. The trouble is neither have you.

SWP was my favourite because he was a shining light at all times - when we were good and when we were bad.
However, Dunne was our most important. Completely unappreciated by some on here and if we're all honest, we struggled without him and may not even be out of the woods yet... the man was a rock and played in more makeshift defences than most others would have had to do...
I still believe that he would have made a fantastic partnership with Toure and I reckon he could well end up with Villa's POTY award if he keeps up his form.

Dunne is a club legend, despite certain opinions on here in his last year, so my vote had to be for him. Stuck with us through thin and thin and as an earlier poster said, he was Typical City

Went for Ali B.
Purely based on technical ability as a footballer from the list available. The man had magic feet and a sublime brain. My mate from down the pub has a pair of his boots, and I'm not ashamed to say that when he showed em to me I had to touch them like some awestruck pilgrim wiht a saint's bones in his hands.
My favourite would be The Mighty Goat, closely followed by SWP. AS for who's done the most for us, I think Dunne might just edge Goater.
And I've nothing against Richards, but is he on there as some sort of joke? Player of the decade? Is the meaning of 'player' subject to reader's discretion? I've heard he gets about a bit!

That was a difficult choice.
I finally went for Dunne.
He had his limitations but he gave us everything he had. He made us laugh, cry, and sometimes angry. He scored some great goals but sadly some of them were the wrong way. He shone out in the bad times. He gave his heart and you can't ask for more than that.
I KNOW THAT YOU BELIEVE THAT YOU UNDERSTOOD WHAT YOU THINK I WROTE, BUT I AM NOT SURE YOU REALISE THAT WHAT YOU READ IS NOT WHAT I MEANT

Can only be The Dunneymonster: apart from anything else nobody has matched his total commitment, willingness to play through the pain, and pick himself up after disappointments.
I'm sure I'll always find a place for him in my all-time City XI: and that covers 40 years now
And what odds him winning the Player of the Year at Villa this season?
