I'm interested to see what our PR team comes up with now in light of all that's gone on. This is not a thread to debate the decision, more a thread to see how they will put a positive spin on everything. For instance, many of us agree that the way he was sacked showed no class whatsoever and I for one am unhappy with the club's professionalism during this time.

It's ironic as the professionalism of the club has been something which has made me so proud since the new owners took over.

I think the club want too much too soon, if top 6 and losing less than United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal is not good enough then I dunno what is.

What expectations are they setting, is top 6 no longer good enough? If Mancini loses more games than Hughes is he a goner?

I don't think there will be any spin whatsoever. Results speak volumes and they know if mancini does the business no one will remember the circumstances of Hughes dismissal. Take ranieri and mourinho for example. The inverse is also true however so let's hope to christ roberto does the business!

I have a big concern that at the beginning of the season there was that great interview with Khaldoon and he stated to us publicly as fans that the target for hughes this season was a top 6 finish and that this was an ongoing project that he appreciated may take a long time maybe even as long as 10 years.
Yet here we are in december, in the top 6*, and the manager is sacked, to be honest I'm worried by that as it totally contradicts what he said in his interview pre-season

*you could argue this is despite of hughes rather than because of him but thats not what I intend to debate with this post

That's the biggest worry for me now; that whatever they say may not be true. I trusted these blokes but the sacking of Hughes, right or wrong, proves that anything they say can be taken with a pinch of salt.

Does that include their promise to stay at the club for the long haul? Will they just walk out if City don't provide them with the PR boost they were hoping for? I hope & still believe they are genuine about their aims but this development makes me a lot less certain about our future than I was 2 days ago.

Dunno if this is where to post, but I'm not suprised, not upset, just embarrassed.

Agreed, wonder what stories are gonig to come out in the next few weeks, as I have stated before, this is what MCFC are good at, causing trouble within, sackings, etc, I guess it's the same for most clubs really.

What exactly is everyone's problem with the dismissal? I don't get it. They wanted him to go, and even gave him a match to say goodbye. Nothing wrong with it for mine.

The interview was before the situation changed mate. Big bucks were spent after that, spending brought forward from future plans. We can speculate whether this was in response to Platini's proposals, Liverpool's financial situation, perceived weakness at Arsenal or a combination of these factors. That would surely have meant a change of target? They were aiming for 4th, by the time the season started, of that there can now be little doubt!

Exactly my feeling. I've totally lost faith in the administration, and think it will take a long time for me to regain the excitement I've felt as a City supporter over the past 18 months.

Mr Blue, I feel the same way, what can we believe,and what can't we believe, won't be surprised if they try to get Tony Blair in to win us around, I think thats how stupid they must think we are.

When were they revised? Khaldoon said top 4 AFTER we had bought tevez, ade, barry etc. So thats balls. We all knew they secretly wanted top 4. But i never expected us to be doing so well early on. Maybe MH is victim to his excellent early run, as could be argued with sven.

i for one don't really have any issues with how he was dismissed. Some on here think they'd feel better if Dougie came back one Thursday and posted that Hughes and Co. were frogmarched out of their offices by Marwood and Cookie instead. I don't buy it. No matter how it went down there would always be issues for certain people.

For those that say they don't trust the club and won't feel the same...i'd say get over it fast. The team has a crowded fixture list upcoming and i'm excited to see them go out and respond to the situation on the pitch as professionals.

BUT THE SEASON CHANGED MATE - THIS IS THE WEAKEST THE PREMIERSHIP HAS BEEN SINCE IT STARTED AND WHEN A CLUB SPENDS OVER 200 MILLION ON STAR PLAYERS YOU WOULD EXPECT US TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THAT FACT.

LETS BE HONEST THIS HAS BEEN THE BEST OPPORTUNITY FOR A SIDE LIKE US TO GET INTO THE TOP 4 AND WE WERE FUCKING IT UP BIG TIME.

I RECKON THATS WHY THE OWNERS HAVE FELT THE NEED TO GET RID NOW WHILST THE "ELITE" ARE WOBBLING AND GET SOMEONE IN TO TAKE ADVANTAGE.

We were always "just another moneybags club", and sooner or later Hughes would have been sacked for not meeting expectations. Whether that be achieving top4, or winning the champs leage next season.

Remember Dr Al-Fahim - perhaps his boasts of what we planned to achieve in year 1,2,3,4,5 were not so outlandish as people thought, maybe he was the mouthpiece for the Sheik?

Our owners should not be setting targets if they are not going to keep to the goals set. What is all the bullshit about things changing because of the money spent. WE KNEW WE WERE GOING TO SPEND BIG! The set targets were put in place in anticipation of getting the players at a great expense.

On the theory of the league being topsy turvy, its football, no-one knows what the results will be until the final whistle FFS, did anyone predict the rags being dicked over by Fulham by 3 goals? NO YOU DIDNT, its all bullshit about changing targets. The owners reneged on their initial stance, its very black and white.
