Was meant to post this on saturday, but didnt get chance. It seems like some fans where I've sit have gone from a divide about the manager to a full-on divide over standing up= sitting down. Lads behind me were nearly coming to blows because one of the guys 10 year old lads couldnt see. It didnt justify his gobshite approach of 'sit down before i smash your face in', especially when he was with about 5 lads and the guy in front was only with one lad, was a teenager himself and looked a bit slow. It really pissed me off and I had to calm it down a few times. Seems like most people are season ticket holders round there, so it will flare up again.
Personally I want to stand up all game and there should be something done about it. The atmosphere is gash with everyone sitting down in silence. I sat down most of saturday because the whole block did, but i still sung my heart out which is something alot of people dont seem to do when there sat down. It seems to change every week though, vs. fulham or burnley nearly every block to 106 in the east stand was all stood up, no1 moaning, no stewards, it was a cracking atmosphere.
Next match at COMS is the semi final, so lets all get together and stop in-fighting. At least the whole of the south standers will probably have got seats around me so should be a good atmosphere!

I agree...can't believe that standing hasn't been brought back with the new safety procedures in place there is no reason why not...there has been a lot of changes since Hillsborough

When I used to sit near the the back it annoyed me when people stood up through most the match or were constantly going to the toilet all the time. Although I wouldn't have been a dick to them about it like that a couple did deserve it though (like a couple of pissheads etc which I still to this day don['t know how they got into the ground in the first place!) I don't sit down all the game myself I stand up when the action gets going at the other side of the pitch etc.. but now i moved to the middle at the front I kinda don't need to and there is no atmosphere no more.
I feel what your saying mate though there are a bunch of tossers at every match all you can do is report it to a steward but most of them are shit bricks. I remember one game this thug came and sat next to my mate in a seat which clearly wasn't his in the Fulham cup game as he was sat on a higher tier but obviously the guy who booked the seat was late he came to sit in his seat and the thug wouldn't move claiming it was now HIS seat. The guy went to the steward who politely asked him to move the thug told the steward to fuck off it was his seat he had proof on his phone (which he never once pulled out or was looking like he was going to) to which the steward then just reseated the other guy. The other fella had proof he was in his seat but of course the steward didn't wanna start anything and sat the guy somewhere else.

I understand your sentiments mate but you are in the East Stand where many families go. The bloke who was giving it out wasn't in the right with his attitude, but he did have someone with him who couldn't see the game because people were standing. It is an all seated arena with the South Stand allowing people to be standing throughout the game. Maybe a thought but why not try to get tickets in there?

South stand is season tickets mate, so is block 111. I use to sit in the south stand, couldnt get tickets one match and ended up in block 110, then loved it and have been around there since. Block 111 is all standing, but you cant get a ticket. For some matches the atmosphere dies when it gets to bloack 110, with some it carries on to 108.
The guy was all talk and was just bitching through all our attacking and me and my mate just drowned them out with Blue moon. He had a point, he was just being a prick but the guy in front moved seats very early on anyway. Theres usually empty seats around anyway so sometimes it doesnt make a difference if people stand up. Ironically, I had a little kid in front of me who was stood on the seat so i couldnt see, but I laughed about it and was lifting him up when everyone was stood up. To be fair he wasnt interested in the game so wouldnt have been arsed anyway!
The fact is there were no stewards there moaning to sit down, whereas fulham / burnley every single fan in the block was happy to stand up and it was gine, the trouble was stewards telling everyone to sit down every 2 minutes. I dont get how it changes so much from game to game when theres seems to be quite a few season ticket holders. Aside from the guy pretending to be a hard man, he was also going on about grassing to the stewards to get the guy chucked out just standing !
I thought the family stand was in the north / bell stand anyway??? Each to their own with the signing issue, but sitting down does kill atmosphere. Im happy to sit down if we can generate an atmosphere, but if you want to be miserbable and sit down in silence all game, why not sit in the north stand or somewhere?! I sit near the away fans for the atmosphere, and I think its embarassing when teams like stoke drown us out compared to what we had with the kippax. We use to have a whole stand singing, whereas now we have a few blocks if were lucky. How come its so different for away games?

My point was more the comments from lads next to me like ''is it always like this here, i'd rather stick to away games'' and ''in all my years i've never seen blues fighting each other like that before''. And i just thought, the only time I've seen blues so divided was with hughes, but it seems like it hasn't gone away.

My instinct is to sit. First and foremost I want to watch the match and I want other people to be able to watch it too.
How is the atmosphere any good when there's people sat at home rather than going to matches because it effects their enjoyment. There isn't a single reason why people can't sing as much when they're sitting down. It's just a bullshit excuse by people who prefer standing, are in the habit of it or are nostalgic for the good ol' days.

Disagree mate, theres no1 that suffers because of standing, anyone that has someone that cant see behind them usually sits down whereas I know alot of blues that are pissed off with COMS because of the lack of atmosphere. Like i said, I sat down for most of the stoke match and watched how it affected other people singing. I even said just because everyones sat down doesnt mean u cant sing! I do feel a bit daft getting passionately into blue moon, the instinct is to stand.
I just dont get why away fans stand, the whole of germany stand. You could also argue that the majority of blues want to stand. Its fair enough fans saying if you want to stand, move. But the two standing areas of the south stand and Block 111 are constantly sold out. So we need another block where its acceptable.

I sit next to an old man who struggles to stand up quickly, as a result he misses almost every goal. Feel so sorry for him. We're in the maine stand too.
it's the idiots that as soon as we break into the opponents half, automatically stand up an block everyone elses view. All it takes is one person to stand up an its a domino affect.
Just feel really sorry for the old man.

Nick, my SC used to e in the SS before I started taking the kids, and I always used to get spare ticktes for mates if they were going, so am sure tickets still exist but maybe not in bulk. As for the family stand, it's the North Stand, however as I said, there are many people who prefer the atmosphere closer to the SS and choose to take their kids there (my SCs are now in the Bell stand right next to the SS). Also, the CitC project allocates quite a few ticktes in the ES lower which are usually for the kids with an adult accompaniment.
So in short, if you're not a SC holder and want to stand, then try and get in the SS.

This is an argument/debate that will never end until something is done about safe standing. I have noticed that the South Stand is the place to be for atmosphere and standing behind the goal is accepted, the same applies in block111 which is where i stand, standing is accepted in 110 as well to some extent but no further. Everywhere else in the ground is most definately sitting only and people should adhere to this. I have bought tickets for other parts of the ground when i haven't been able to buy one for block111 but i have always walked round and stood in 111. It's a bit like 'the good ol days' people will move up and make space for you to stand next to them.

I sit in the front row of tier 2 and only get out of my seat if I see the net bulge. I do this out of respect for those behind me. However, I do shout my head off and encourage the team throughout. This is not hampered by me being on my arse.

I went to a good 20 games last season, bar about a hand full of away games, each of those home games means a near on 300 mile round trip. I loved every minute of it due to the fact I could pick and choose where I wanted to sit,Which was the singers. The atmos was awesome at times!!! Iv prob been to about 5 games this season including away days! I just struggle spending all that money and doing all that travelling just to be sat surrounded by a load of boring fookers that are too busy eating their sandwich.
I go to watch City to take in the atmos and be part of the occasion. I do enjoy goin each and every time. But Iv got to the point where I question whether the good times out weight the travel, time and money spent. In singers, its defo worth it. Sat around aload of mothers with their kiddies, Im not so sure..I know alot of older fellas that support different teams that wont go to games anymore as the atmos has just been kiled.
Look at German football. Always a great atmos and still in a controlled environment..Bring back standing areas for the lads!!!!!

Where the fuck are the stewards? It's a cardinal sin if you stand in the shaded area in the concourse to have a look at what's going on on the pitch, they are on you in a flash, so why can't they be as hot with other things?

Last thing we want is loads of mini Hitlers as stewards. Reading were the worst Iv seen. Even when ya get up to go for a piss ya being told to sit back down..Really annoyin. Put my flag up at the back and as I turned to see it from my seat it was gone!!! Fookers took it down! Unreal. When I asked why I couldnt put it up they just said 'because you cant' I then demanded a reason, just asked them to give me one good reason why and they couldnt give one!! This country is unreal for shit like that.

Stewards are normally there every 5 seconds, they just weren't there on saturday. In the burnley / fulham games i mention the stewards took such a bashing (with one fan even throwing a sandwich at one!) it seemed no1 dared patrol the area for the sunderland match.
I agree with all the posts above, especially dazza. Its not just the sitting down fact, its the fact that there are alot of modern fans at COMS that have little interest in city or football. I dont see the point in going and spending all the money.
I do feel bad for people that have health issues, although thats never been a case around me at COMS. My dad is not the fittest anymore, after having a heart transplant last year but he still gives it 100% and jumps of his seat when were attacking.
I was too young to remember terraces, so missed out on alot of the 'good old days', you fit more in without seats and I think all the kids use to all be stood together at the front.

They should make the whole lower tier of the south stand as standing areas. From corner to corner, block 110 through to 122.Maybe even a couple of blocks above in the second tier. The atmos would be awesome. Would stop all the moaning in a flash.

Strange when you say 'Mini Hitlers' (you talking dwarfs then ;-)) as on Saturday at half-time, they tried to block off the spirals so that the smokers couldn't get out. They lasted for about 5 minutes before people started pushing through the 'Blockade' to get some
air but never bothered to follow them down to get them to put a block on the 'Fresh Air' break.

I much prefer standing up and have to agree that it helps generate a better atmosphere. Last night was a prime example. The majority stood and created a really good atmosphere.
This is the reason I prefer away games as your generally get to stand up for the whole game. I think that standing areas at games should definitely be looked into and esp at Coms as the atmosphere at times can be pretty dire. Not sure if this is all down to the factor of people sitting but don't think it helps.

Lol.. Its silly really. I dont smoke but I cant see much bother in just lettin people go down the spirals for a smoke. It will stop them doing it in the toilets. It sounds like more bother than its worth tryin to stop people from doing it!!
