Ivan Cordoba Asks Inter For Permission To Speak With Manchester City - Report

Ivan Cordoba has handed Inter a transfer request so he can begin negotiations with Manchester City.

According to Tuttomercatoweb.com, Cordoba is in the process of speaking with president Massimo Moratti, and his plans for the future appear clear. He wants to leave and in order to be reunited with former coach Roberto Mancini at Eastlands.

The Colombian is searching for regular football after spending much of the season so far in the shadows and has welcomed the idea of a fresh challenge in the Premier League.

Mancini will offer Cordoba the football he wants as well as three-year deal worth €2.8 million per season. As part of the deal, the Nerazzurri will receive a €5m cash injection in return for the stopper.

Cordoba does not want to completely cut his ties with Inter though, and has asked whether a future return in another role at the club may be possible.

this guy is not the answer...would be a disappointing start to the transfer window IMO

i can't see him getting regular football with us tbh, would love him here as cover though not sure how happy he would be with that

1 min in to that video and I've just watched him head the ball in from 2 yards 3 times and suffered massive earache. Pointless!

Don't know enough about him but we need someone in quick (like Jan 1st) so I think age should be thrown out of the window as he's not being targetted as along term fix. If Bobby thinks he can do a job for us, short term, and if the deal can be pushed through quickly then I'm fine with it.

If Chielini is his main target then Juve will not be easy to deal with and will drag it out, as will most clubs due to our financial position. Signing someone with experience as a short term fix makes sense with all the games we have coming up.

It is unlikely that any of the top centre half targets will be available in this window, we'll have to wait until June to see about them - if it is decided they are still needed.

With Toure, Ned and Lescott out for most of January, Kompany and Richards are all we have left in the centre. Kompany has had fitness and injury issues and Micah is maybe too inexperienced to cope week in week out at CB - plus he's been playing well at RB. Boyata and Vidal? Unknown quantities and unfair to throw them in at this point.

Cordoba appears to love Mancini if we believe the press reports, and would hit the ground running tactically. He's also a leader and a winner - him and Kompany at the back would be solid, backed up by Micah and Ned (when fit).

I say get him in.

A loan deal to the end of the season at best..Then we can go out and buy someone younger and better in the summer.

agreed, signing him straight to a 3 year contract when he's not even been playing regularly so we have no idea what were gonna get from him is just stupid, wether mancini rated him in the past or not plus if he's not good enough for inter he's not good enough for city, we'll never compete in the CL with players that couldn't make it with the teams we'll be competing with

get him in on a 6 month loan deal that way if mancini is sacked in 6 month's werenot stuck with yet more dead weight

I agree that a loan deal would be more desirable ... but we desperately need cover over what may be one of the most important months in our season. If we're going to push on from our current position we need wins, and to get wins we need stability at the back. We could do alot worse than someone with the experience of Ivan Cordoba ... even if he's not a glamor signing anymore. He's been a highly regarded cb for a long long time.

I agree with the loan deal possibility, he's 33 years old so we need him as nothing more than a stop gap.

Cordoba is in his mid 30's, less than 6 foot and not played this season. How can anyone expect him to come in and immediately do a job, in another all new back four?

Spot on mate, i'm sure once Toure, Lescott and Onouha are all back and match fit, Cordoba would just become back up. I'm certain he could do a job for a month or so.

Wouldn't suprised me if this is all already tied up on a loan deal or something.

I agree about the age issue but I would fancy Cordoba to beat any of our defenders in the air. He has an amazing leap on him. He is tough and strong too.

I wouldn't want to risk a youngster in the United or Boro games. I would rather we played Richards in the middle with Kompany, Zab at RB and Garrido at LB. I would have McGivern and Vidal on the bench. From what I have seen McGivern looks a better bet than Mee. It's a shame that Ned is injured as he could have cemented a starting spot.

Would love too see Hangeland at City for the long-term, i'm sure we would be able to get him for about £12-15million aswell. When we played Fulham earlier in the season he was a beast and kept Ade in his back pocket all game.

It's not your money. The money belongs to a bloke who's family just bailed out Dubai. What the fuck does it matter to you lot what he pays Cordoba?

It may well be difficult to get quality young CB's in Jan. Micah keeps collapsing with a knee injury, so we could find ourselves with 1 fit CB during a period which will decide our season & possibly Mancini's future. If he wants to bring in one of his most trusted defenders to try & help during what could be a defensive crisis, then let him get on with it ffs!

Good and sensible point. I agre firmely.

Agree with those who think he's not the ultimate answer for enhancing our backfield at the top of European quality level.
However, is spite of quite low height (cm.173) and not green age (33 on nov.) he's still a surprising high jumper, pretty fast and very experienced in overall tacticts plus very committed to Mancini.

I too hope for a little better fm the window, but providing that top clubs do not use to let their top stuff to leave along the season (my convinced opinion is that the only way to get some Chiellini or alike stuff should be to triple the actual market value - and don't belive it the case!) - this would be a fair contingency option. Once got CL spot on may, it would be easier and almost probable for Mancini to sign Chiellini or similar stuff at the proper price.

However, providing that Palermo's Kjaer as rejected proposal (info on my post on CB topic), Cordoba is the only actual option currently on the market and the only confirmed by various realiable sources.

As I understand fm Italy talks have been rised amongst Inter' chairman Moratti and Cordoba in order to find out a deal to let him play Premiership on short term and then return at Inter as an officier, providing that he is well established in Milan also with some lateral business.

Hmmm, all this discussion and yet no one mentioned he's originally a decent full back..

You're definitely right, but as lot of other FB (Maldini to list the best) getting older he had been moved to the centre where he has proven as solid as experienced - sometime upon contingency has been lined as FB.

By the way, considering the actual attitude of English media in respect of CITY I did not spent many time over them, because I don't feel able to screw actual news from lies and bs.
Can anybody kidly report me on any REAL opportunity about CBs from home market? Thanks in advance...
