Was a bit risky IMO but it paid off and I don't wanna really take a shot here but I gotta as there is no way under Hughes we would have pulled that off. Boyata deserves a special mention today I think as that lad looks class and I am excited for him and Weiss was quite.

I agree Boyata was good, Weiss will be kicking himself he had a good 60-70 mins to have a good game. Still the weather was shit the ground is crap, there will be other times to prove himself.

weiss may have been a bit quiet, but he was getting hacked, and bodied all game ... something he'll have to learn to deal with, but he still managed to pull out a few tricks (which came off well in good positions too) and towards the end of the first half came to life with some great movement and shots which unfortunately were blocked.

Boyata was good ... though the cunt commentators kept calling him a liability

You are correct about Hughes if he chose that side but he wouldn't of. Leslie would have played a far stronger starting line up to be fair

think the only one's who'll be back in time for wednesday are RSC and SWP but we can juggle it about and have a strong first 11 against scum and then hopefully some of the others are back for Cloggers a week monday.

Weiss defo missed an opportunity today but will get chances with a stronger team round him when he can shine.

TYPICAL CITY IS DEAD LONG LIVE THE NEW CITY ;o)

It didn't help that he was playing out of position on the left ! Don't understand why Manc asked him and Petrov to switch positions. Both were not as effective as they could have been.

Mancini would have had three aims today:

1) Get the win
2) Rest key players for Wednesday
3) Give youngsters/fringe players the chance to impress

He achieved all three successfully so all in all a good day out for Roberto

Pound to a pinch of shit if Hughes would have played a team that defensive he would have got his arse kicked on here.

Vhero ..... you do quite a lot of that on here mate and it's all comes over a bit daft.

Your streamfinding is brilliant and saves us all a lot of aggro ..... but your attempts at looking into a crystal ball and predicting the future (or what might have been) are pure irelevant conjecture.

No one knows what a Hughes side would or wouldn't have done ..... and indeed now never will, so what's the point of the constant jibes in that direction. You can never prove you are right ..... and no one can argue that you are wrong.

All that matters, is we won ..... and keep winning. That's down to players and not managers. So far, the squad is holding up, we are getting most tactics right ...... and also enjoying a little bit of luck too.

Long may it continue, whoever the manager is.

I just look back on last year against Forest mate. Ya see your right I can't tell the future but I draw from the past and whenever Hughes fielded a weaker side in any cup we got beat. I am just using what knowledge Hughes gave me with our own results on the pitch mate. Even weaker teams are effective with the right tactics and Hughes didn't have tactics that was his downfall mate. So weak teams fell apart under bad tactics. Fortunately stronger teams could make up for it. That forest game will always be in my memory I went to that game and there was no excuse for that match.

I thought it was decent performance from the lads today even though they didn't really have much to do. I was just Listening to the game again and the commentator said in the last 5 years what ever team beat middlesbrough in the F.A cup went on to the final so lets hope the same thing happens again this year.

I heard that as well mate, but he did say that they all went on to LOSE in the final!!! It'll be a nice day out though ;-)

Weiss was quiet for a simple reason, it was easy to mark him, especially in the first half as only he, Petrov and to some extent Sylvinho were contributing offensively (as Benjani was essentially a tool until his solid finish) and they were marking him hard. He made some terrific moves when going in 1 v 3 and held his own defensively.

Boyata had a tremendous game, should poise most of the time, and nerves a little bit, but what debutant doesn't?

Let's get to the Final and be the team that beat Boro and won the cup.

I think that if Hughes had of been managing we would have won that match 4-1.

It's easy this game.

The commentators on the radio were saying how solid he was. He sounded good from what they were sayin. Also meantioned a few good little tricks by Weiss.. As said aready, I did think it was a bit of a risky startin line up, but job was still done with ease in the end.

It is a bit pointless (more than a bit) - I am neither pro-Hughes - or continuously anti / making jibes so I think I can be objective

The past shows - for what its worth - that in this game Hughes would have played his strongest 11 - so we would never have been in danger of not winning

But what point is there in harping on about that????
