Advertised as match worn, if you read the details, the fella's lying! It was issued to Benjani

he does go on to make it clear it is not a match-worn shirt though:

This shirt was part of the initial batch of shirts prepared for the game. Benjani's worn shirt has been held onto by the club, so his issued shirt is the next best thing! Apart from Stephen Ireland's match worn shirt from the game, which was sold on behalf of the Stephen Ireland Foundation, none of the other match worn shirts have ever been sold. Even the shirts subsequently sold by City for charity were not the actual worn shirts. The worn shirts were retained by City, and several have been on show in the City museum. If you want any more information on the story of the Munich shirts, please don't hesitate to ask.

Yeah he does. But the title of the item reads, 'Manchester City "Munich" Benjani Match Worn Issue Shirt', which is not true

Hi Gio,

I am (for a few more days!) the owner of this shirt, so I thought I should answer this. You are correct, the shirt was not worn by Benjani -- the reason "worn" is in the listing title is because many collectors (myself included) search ebay for "match worn" shirts due to the vagaries of ebay's search function.

I apologise if anyone was misled, but I think it is pretty clear from my description that the shirt was issued to Benjani rather than worn. I mention the fact that the shirt is match issue, not match worn, 4 times in the description, but sorry if there is any confusion. I would love it if it was indeed Benjani's worn shirt, but I don't think the museum will let me have it :-). His issued shirt is obviously the next best thing so it's a great memento/piece of City history.

As I mentioned in the description, only one of the match worn shirts from the game (from either side) has ever made it to the open market -- Stephen Ireland sold his shirt on behalf of the Stephen Ireland Foundation. It sold for just under £2500... to a United fan!!

Hope this clears things up for everyone on this thread. Anyone with any questions just let me know and I will gladly answer, I am not trying to mislead/con anyone.

Putting worn in the title is a big mistake mate whoever buys it can make a full refund claim and get their money back as its not worn trust me I been screwed over enough by Paypal enough to know what you can and cant get away with (and screwed a couple of chinese sellers over myself for bad condition items like knock off memory cards etc.). So you better hope you get a good buyer as the buyer has full power to get a full refund as you wasn't 100% truthful in your listing.

hi there, this depends on the club and the player to a certain extent. at City, from what i can tell, the players get 2 shirts per game, some will only use 1, others might put a new shirt on at half time. Robinho always seems to wear a new shirt each half for example. each player will definitely have a minimum of 2 shirts prepared for each game though.

the munchen game is different though. City had about 50 shirts made up, so 2 for each player in the squad (even for those who didn't play/injured/suspended). then City had another batch knocked up for the auction.

stunning price for an absolutely crap player. sorry andy, but that price is staggering to me. not match worn either, but benjani, just such an awful player. would be less appealing if it was, say, scott hiley, but only a smidge.

what price my foe shirt? burgundy stripe too, defo not for sale. the mind boggles. lol.

Haha, crap player, but one-off game and winning goalscorer. His shirt went for 1500 at the City auction, the top price for any of the shirts (Vassell, Ireland, and Richards went high too).

I have seen one Foe shirt sell, around the 400-500 mark.

haha he's a legend, would love to find a benarbia shirt somewhere

the munich game is interesting. i think City made a bit of a mess of the shirts in the end, the rags did a much better job of keeping the number of shirts to a minimum. most of the rag shirts were kept by the players, although they had to donate 5 figures to charity to get them :-)
