Hull City have made a bid to sign Manchester City striker Felipe Caicedo on loan for the rest of the season.

The 21-year-old Ecuador player, who is on loan at Sporting Lisbon, has attracted interest from other clubs.

Tigers manager Phil Brown told BBC Radio Humberside: "I'm trying to tempt him to come and play for us in time for Chelsea [on Saturday]."

The Yorkshire club have also played down interest from other clubs for their in-form winger Stephen Hunt.

Brown said: "I had the lad in this morning and asked him where he wants to be.

Maybe this window will not be so much of a disaster after all?

"His heart is firmly at Hull City and I'd like to keep it that way for the January transfer window and the rest of the season."

Brown is under the impression that he could have serious competition to sign Caicedo, who is thought to be wanted by a Spanish club.

However, Brown has confirmed that strikers Caleb Folan and Daniel Cousin are likely to leave the club, adding: "Caleb has expressed a desire to leave and we have agreed to it.

"Daniel's on African Nations duty [With Gabon] and it's hard for him to come back and sign papers. Until that happens then there won't be a deal on the table."

I think it would be a very good move for Caicedo and Hull. He's not really enjoying the life in Portugal (in terms of playing) and I think he would be a very good option up front for Hull.

A very good move for Hull, Caicedo and CIty.

He'll gain Prem experience, help Hull in their relagation battle, and he'll be able to play aginst our rivals, but will be inelligible to play against us. Perfect!

This is a good move on our part should it go ahead.

If we are ever to know whether Big Phil can make it in the Prem then having him get some experience at a Prem club is the right way to go.

I'm not convinced he's part of our future, but he did play well towards the end of last season and whilst he's on our books, we need to take a good look at him playing in the Prem before moving him on.

You figured this was coming, hadn't every other striker turned down Phil Brown?

Pretty much, yeah! Just hope Caicedo doesn't, he's rotting away where he is now.

So Caicedo will get the choice of flying back to the UK to play in the snow or to Malaga and do a bit of sun bathing, I know which I'd choose!

I was impressed by him last season. A raw prospect at the moment maybe, but he looked strong and reasonably skillful.

I however echo the idea that he might sensibly choose to remain in Malaga.

If Hull seriously have to sell 2 strikers (although to who it doesn't say) he'd have a lot of pressure on him to deliver the goods.

Not that I want to contemplate this at all, but if we sold Cole, I could see us having a look at Caicedo too.
People are also speculating that yr lot might be happy to loan or move on Santa Cruz. Surely that's not likely?

Good luck to the lad he put in a good effort at the end of last season, scoring some crucial goals. There was quite a bit of pressure on him as the 'new Drogba' but he seemed to cope quite well. I assume we have him on a longish contract so there is no harm in sending him out on loan. But he doesn't seem to be getting a chance at Sporting so perhaps needs to move on.

He's signing for Malaga this very morning as per this article:

Says he travelled from Lisbon to Malaga last night and is doing a medical now etc.

and this thread:

BBc was a bit backward with that Hull story.
