Looks on the cards...is he as good as the hype?

Manchester City seek to prise striker Moses from troubled Palace

Manchester City's position at the forefront of transfer-window business has seen them open negotiations with Crystal Palace to try to reach a fee for their talented young striker Victor Moses.

City have identified Moses as a possible star of the future and hope to capitalise on Palace's financial problems by agreeing terms to make the 19-year-old the seventh striker on the club's books.

Brian Marwood, City's football administrator, has already spoken extensively to Palace but made it clear to the Championship club that his employers would not be persuaded to spend in excess of the player's true worth just because of the immense wealth afforded to them by their owner in Abu Dhabi.

Simon Jordan, the Palace chairman, is looking for a figure of around £5m, citing the fee that Aston Villa paid Leeds United for Fabian Delph. Several other Premier League clubs have been monitoring Moses and West Bromwich Albion have failed with a £1.5m bid for a player who has scored seven times in his last seven appearances.

Looks to me the kind of young player who still has 'room to grow' into an exceptional talent.

Time will tell of course.

Played well against us in August and created a few chances, if we do sign him, loaning him beck to Palace for the rest of the season wouldn't be a bad idea as then he could continue to develop. He scored a wonder goal last week which in it's self, show's he has a shit load of talent, but then again we have seen other clubs buy "the next big thing" from the lower leagues in the past only for them to turn out average Premier League players. Time will tell I s'pose.

For £4/5mill it could turn out to be one of the signings of the decade if he does indeed turn out to be a superstar.

If you like :-)

What I truly meant though is that he's obviously got the natural ability, but time will tell whether he can develop to his potential. There are other attributes / mentality that I / we have no idea if he possesses or not.

I don't know him but from the posts I read here he must be very promising. I say let's get him and leave him to Palace till the end of the season so he can keep playing and improve even more, then next summer we evaluate him in preseason and decide about keeping him or loaning him again, possibly to a Prem club to make him get some experience.

Been following this feller since he made his debuts and seen him about 6 or 7 times in past few years, including against us of course.

Super talented lad but his skills are still raw as fook. Would benefit from top quality coaching he'd get with us. That said, he is nowhere near ready for top Premierleague football yet. To me seems more comfortable as winger than out and out striker.

I'd go for him but wouldn't hurry too much unless we are in rife competition over his signature.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Totally agree, he doesnt look a prem player and would not get in our first 11 for some time. He would need to improve, but has the tools to do it from what everyone is saying. Not seen too much of him and he only seems to have come to the fore this season, maybe because Palace are having money problems and they are putting him in the shop window, along with his good current form.

On a side note, how many players do you follow a year?

HAHA

I watch LOADS of football mate. It's sad really. In fact, I had fookin MASSIVE row last night with missus. We've just moved to our first own house and I went and ordered satellite with dozens of channels we didn't have before without telling her. She told me quite clearly that sitting on the sofa and watching football every waking hour isn't really a "hobby". Which I quite clearly disagreed with!

I usually notice young promising players through one source or another and start paying attention on them. Like for example, Victor Moses was on FourFourTwo magazine's "Boy's a Bit Special" feature some years ago when he had just made his debut for Palace as 16 year old and I thought he sounded like massive talent and his story (he moved to England when his parents were murdered when he was 11. He didn't basically speak at all for few years because of the shock) was so touching that I started to follow his career when ever I got the chance.

I remeber being really worried about him in the Palace game especially when Richards was booked. But can't remeber if he was genuinely left footed or not? There is still a bit of a dirth of talented fast left wingers around the England squad.

If we are using any money in from Chelsea for Sturridge, it makes a lot of sense I think (not that we need to rationalize our spend in such a way but still old habits.. )

Reminds me a little bit of David White; looks completely shite one minute then does something startlingly good. Anyone with a decent talent added to pace has a chance. He would scare some teams to death coming off the bench but doesn't look a PL quality starter. I'd be delighted to see him get a chance at City & if it doesn't work then he can move on in the future. Nowt to lose.
