Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

I always fancied myself as a 'keeper and Joe Corrigan was my idol.
I had a green goalie top and got my mum to sew a strip of fabric on the back as a number 1. I would then ask anybody and everybody to take shots on me in the back garden using the swing frame as a goal.
In my memory Big Joe was invincible and at least 8 foot tall!

When I first supported us I guess it was Franny Lee - he was the man, all those penalties! Then in my second 'phase' it was Dennis Tueart - top, top player and should've achieved more in the game really. Shame his time at City ended so unpleasantly recently.

Dennis 'King of the Geordies' Tueart. I did that 1976 overhead kick hundreds of times when I was about 8 years old, Dennis did it once when he was about 27 ... I think that says quite alot about my football skills

When I first started supporting City it was Neil McNab mainly because he was A) our best player B) I had poster of him taken from Match in my bedroom wall.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

So did I - well I tried to at least !!!
Another vote for Tueart - closely followed by Dave Watson (I had number 5 on my ever City kit) Big Joe and Peter Barnes.

It would probably have to be Rodney Marsh. It was initially Colin Bell because obviously he was the best but Marsh got better & better & some of the stuff I've seen him do I've never seen anyone else do even now. Then he reached his absolute peak & turned in possibly the best performance I've ever seen by a City player v Boro (every newspaper gave him 10!). I remember him sitting on the ball in front of the dugout & the Boro players being scared to come near him in case he took the piss out of them, which he did, sticking it through their legs as the Kippax shouted 'ole' & sang 'oh Rodney Rodney'. Then our assistant manager (ex Boro) stood up shouting & shaking his fist at him & he stood with his arms out wide, foot on the ball going wtf? About 2 weeks later we'd dropped him, transfer listed him & he never played for us again. Typical City.

Mike Summerbee, great player, but also loved the way he gave as good as he got tackle wise to the opposition and also had a great sense of humour on the pitch.

Early 90s were all about Big Quinny, then Kinky came along and the mantle was passed to him.

I've always loved wingers. Now it would be SWP and Martin and of course Robbie(but is he a winger).
The one who started my admiration of them was Peter Barnes.

Tueart for me... will never forget seeing him score that overhead kick against Newcastle in 1976.
Spent most of the summer trying to copy him.

Can vividly remember as a small kid 1st arriving in Australia playing against myself in the back garden and every match ending up 3-2 to city with a Niall Quinn 3rd deep into stoppage time sealing the win.
Tracking back is overrated.

You must have had a lot of nightmares as a kid!
Quinn, Hendry and Lake for me as a young kid were always my idols. After that I would say Rosler, Walshy, Beagrie and Kinky
