According to the sun (chinners thread ) he could be availible in the summer for free. If this is the case, who on here would want him. Personally I think he is one of the most gifted players in England, and would have him at the drop of an hat. He can play anywhere in midfield, and severly underused by Chelsea

When players are under-used - especially at Chelsea - there usually turns out to be a reason. Which only becomes apparent to the buying club when he plays for them.

I think we should be looking to sign top players who can get in the side nowadays.

True, but having his old pals Bridgey and SWP already up here might sway that though. I'd be up for it on a free if he wanted to come, great competition for our wide players.

cole was amazing form before his long injury lay off, he needs to show he can get that level of performance back before I would bring him in. He plays wide left or has been utilised there for years, we dont need anyone there.

He'll probably end up as yet another gift from a rival to help the rags fill a key position, like Cantona & Andy Cole.

Can't understand what Chelsea are playing at unless he's totally fucked injury wise. If not, once he gets match fit he's one of the very best English players who'd walk into our side, England's side or just about any other of the top clubs in the world. It's strange.

I suppose he coudl've been tapped up & they already know he's leaving, like Sturridge was.

Funny you should say that! Tal Ben Haim and Bridge are more obvious, but with Sweep sometimes you can see why he was often left out. Not denying his undoubted brilliance at times he wasn't good enough to get in their first 11, as he is sometimes a bit easily pushed off the ball, and his retention stats must be very poor, as he runs into people and loses possession. This is wiped from our minds by his good runs and goals etc.

But whether he will remain a first choice as we improve to a CL team still remains to be seen. One thing Mancini wont have, it's giving the ball away in exposed areas.

I think any fan would be made to say no to us getting him on a free as we would have nothing to lose really except wages thanks to his injury record but its not like we can't afford it. If he agrees to come then he would be a great signing.

Agree with most of what you say about Shaunie, but when he went to Chelsea he was in his prime and 5 years younger than he is now. I just think Jose didn't know how to use him or he just didn't fit in with the evolving Chelsea team of that time.

Mourinho just signed a load of players willy nilly, most of whom ended up moving on after he'd ruined their confidence, set their careers back a few years & turned then from internationals into nobodies.

I have always thought for a long time that he would come to City. SWP and Bridge would be a huge influence on his decsion and wouldnt rule it out. Could it be used as a settlement for Sturridge??
