Fans set to match Mancini scarf style

Following the recent surge in demand by fans for the 1950’s-style blue-and-white striped scarf that is fast becoming the non-official trademark of new manager Roberto Mancini, Manchester City are putting the scarf on general sale.

The scarf was originally produced as a complimentary gift to give to season ticket holders. But since the manager has donned it on the touchlines during City’s last four wins, it would appear that Mancini has brought a touch of ‘bellissimo’ to the club, both on and off the pitch.

Dave Heed, Senior Buyer for City, said: “Following the phenomenal response from fans, we have worked around the clock to get the scarves produced as fast as possible in order to meet the current demand. We are delighted to now be able to offer all our fans a piece of Manchester City’s proud history.”

Fashion conscious Blues fans can look forward to the scarf going on general sale in the Citystores at the stadium and the Arndale centre, as well as via the club’s official website www.mcfc.co.uk/shop, priced £8.

lol agree, dont get what all the media hype is with ''how he wears it''. Ive had mine like that since the derby...... On a similar topic though a couple went up to my dad the other day and asked him how you wear the scalf like that LOL (Wasnt a city scarf). How do you wear a scarf any other way?! I suppose the free ones we got given aren't long enough to tie like that so you have to make do with tieing it once and being cold at the match!

Nice to know they're working round the clock for the fans/history etc.

Nothing to do with making a load of sales whilst the cold weather's still on then? $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

that knot is so three years ago.

I've been doing my nut since then cos all of a sudden we all have to tie our scarfs that way.

I've always been a proper old fashioned knot man, and I'm buggered if Im changing for some Johnny come lately Eyetie

They were saying this on ESPN before the last game I wondered when we would get a date and price. Obvious the club was gonna cash in on this and why not? They gotta make their millions back somehow and this is much better than raising ticket prices :)

According to the online shop it's going to be in stock since 18th. Might throw one in when I buy my Tevez away shirt from the online shop, if it's still in stock when I do that.

razor 4X 100 . Have to disagree. I've just come home from watching ice hockey at -7°C. and believe you me, cashmere is worth paying for. I'd love to be able to own a nice cashmere city scarf at 38 quid. that's about 60 Francs- less than half what i would have to pay here for a decent cashmere scarf.

The cashmere scarf is sold by TOFFS www.toffs.co.uk. I've still got the thick wool one my dad gave me, it's older than me and the sky blue bars have faded almost to white but I'll be buggered if I wear cashmere to a football match. My dad (RIP) would call me a right pooftah for doing that and he'd blame it on me going to university instead of following him down t' pit.

Forgive me if I'm being naive or even ignorant here, but I thought the whole discipline of the way you wear (Not tie - certain ways don't require it to be tied) a scarf was a regional or even national thing!? It was my assumption, that the way Roberto wears his scarf is called the 'Catalunya' knot, my friend from Barcelona taught me the real way to wear a scarf when I was first there about 8 years ago. He also shown me other methods, the Hollywood, New Yorker and Milano to name a few. I'm sure you guys can tell me whether or not I was being wound up here?

We should devise a Mancunian Method: -

Find Scum 'Fan'
>
Wrap scarf around neck (preferably from behind to add to the element of surprise)
>
Tie and pull both ends as hard as physically possible for 90 seconds, or until subject turns blue
>
Walk away smugly smiling
