Thierry Henry for me absolute magic, used to make top defenders look like school boys.

Most definitely Marcel Desailly. Best defender I've ever seen.
Flair players always are more noticeable but this guy really was IMMENSE.

Indeed he was mate I remember him coming to Maine Road and marking Nicolas Anelka out of the game and making him look very average, top top defender.

Other shouts for me after Henry are Zola, Bergkamp, Schmeichel, Shearer, Desailly, Vieira and Gerrard to name a few.

Shearer, at Blackburn

Was like a breath of fresh air - plus he scored 3 on his debut against the munes. Also loved it how the rags so so admired him but could never quite buy him.

He He Non City players!

For me it has to be Zola. Loved the little guy, played football with a smile and was pure genius.

Zola, for sure. Shame that the moronic element at City had to swarm the pitch and have a go at his Chelsea team after the last game of the season in about 2000, think he took a couple of kicks from the nutters. He'd been the difference in class between the two teams on the day.

Either Zola or Di Canio. Love players with a bit of flair.

Probably Henry for me as well. You could just watch him all day and one funny thing about him was that he never scored shit goals.

For me it is Bergkamp or Overmars, both were classy players

Overmars? Really? For me he was always just speed merchant with nothing else to his game but pace.

Bergkamp was superstylish for sure but the fact that he is know to be one of the main faces in 'racial wars' in Dutch camp makes me loathe the racist bastard.

some good shouts (and some shockers)

As an Englishman, honourable mentions for Des Walker (as good a defender as I've seen), Peter Beardsley (pre-City) and Matthew le T.(talented, loyal)
Another good import: David "because you're worth it " Ginola

Even as non-Englishman, that's a top shout. One of the best in the world in his prime. Also, regarding my "who would make it in modern game" topic, Des Walker I believe would be EVEN more appreciated in modern game as he was good on the ball and was pretty quick to my recollection.

Le Tissier was also absolute star for me when I was youngster. You just loved watching him and admired his humble approach off the pitch as well. Le Tissier, to me, represents what club football is about. Outsiders always say what could have been if he had moved to bigger club, but let's face it in rags or Arsenal or Liverpool he would've been just another name but one thing is sure, he will NEVER be forgotten in Southampton. Long after no one remembers likes of Henry and Stam and Beardsley (in Liverpool that is).
