Ideally I would want Barry and de Jong dropped but seeing as we haven't got any other midfielders who are fit that isn't going to happen.

Nedum.....Micah...Vince.....Bridge
...................NDJ
SWP............Stevie..........Petrov
............Tevez....Bellers

If Bridge and Ireland are fit as Mancini said they could be i would throw them straight in aswell as Nedum at the back although he can be just as reckless as Zabba, if Petrov plays then it has to be on the left for me because he's the most 1 footed player at the club and is useless on the right but if RSC is ok i'd put Bellers on left and leave Martin out.

Whoever plays they will be well up for it as the place will be fucking bouncing.

Does anyone have any clarity on the fitness status of:

Nedum
Bridge
SWP
Ireland
Vieira

I'm pretty sure Wayne is out but we've not heard anything official about t'others. Even if Bridgey was fit I'd stick with Javier as he's been strong of late (I am increasingly believing that he is another Tevez....someone who needs to play for us to see him in the best light/form)

i use this typically...http://www.physioroom.com/news/english_ ... _table.php

but i have to say that the injured list seems more heavily guarded or obscured under Mancini. dunno if it's by accident or design. When writing previews under the Hughes team i would pretty much know a couple days before a match who was fit for certain and available for selection and who was not. With the new regime it seems like i'm always guessing up until the 11th hour.

i really hope that Stevie and SWP can do the business on tuesday. i fear without one or both of them we've got a huge boat to draw over a mountain and i am not sure who's up for it. Good news is SWP isn't even on the injured list and Ireland's due back tomorrow.

cheers

Reading Doug's report, Stevie was doing light training, Nedum and obviously SWP were on full training. Bridge I think as well is definitely out. Vieira? Well has he had single training session yet? Douglas?
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

I would like to see Vieira in place for this game if hes fit, but if not then obviously keep Barry in place for midfield. I know Robinho dissapointed yesterday but if RSC is injured I dont quite feel confident in Benjani stepping up for this one.

I'm not sure Vieira will be ready for this one, but I agree with sticking Robinho in. As a last chance to say look I have faith, now show me what you are capable of otherwise I will haul your ass off.

I'd keep Richards at Centre Back to shackle Shrek and Zab at RB dont think Ned will be ready for this one and would like to see him come in against Scunny.

Bench: Taylor, Sylvinho, Petrov, Benjani, Onouha, Boyata, Weiss.

I doubt that Vieira will be fit enough to start (maybe come on at some stage), so I'd start with this

Zabba (or Ned) Richards Ned (or Boyata) Garrido

SWP De Jong Kompany Bellamy
Tevez
Benji

On the advice that Ned is in full training, and hoping that SWP is still fittish. And assuming that Vieira is not ready. In any case it's possibly not the best time to throw Vieira in, nor Boyata against a very mobile and streetwise Shrek.

Given
Richards Ned HermanMunster Zaba
SWP DeJong Barry Bellamy
Tevez Benjani

If the fitness situation is as we think, I shall be surprised if it varies from that side tbh.

Given that, I'd suggest this team :-

Given

Zabaletta Richards Kompany Garrido

Vieira .... De Jong

SWP ................................ Bellamy

Benjani Tevez

Subs : Boyata, Barry, Ireland, Robinho, Onuaha, Petrov, RSC

Yep, I reckon that.
Obviously no RSC on bench as he's injured.

I dont trust Garrido against Valencia tbh. That's why I'd prefer Ned in the middle, Richards on the right where he's slightly less harmful, and Ned in the middle. Not that Ned's brilliant, but I prefer that option. Interesting to see Bobby's opinion!

Garrido hasn't put a foot wrong yet, and is far and away our best left back. No point playing someone out of position when we don't have to.

Looking at our defensive options I am really dreading this game.

I fear that De Jong and Barry are really fucking tired as well by now and could do with Vieira and Ireland being fit (which they apparently are not?).

My team:

--------------------Given
Richards Onouha Kompany Garrido
--------Zabaleta-------De Jong ----------
----SWP--------Ireland--------Bellamy
------------------Tevez---------------------

If Ireland cannot play then switch Tevez with Ireland and play Benjani up front. I chose a 5 man midfield with 2 holding midfielders because I don't trust Garrido with Valencia and I certainly don't trust Richards with Giggs (if he plays which I think he will). We need to cut off their supply right away. SWP and Bellamy both work tirelessly in defense so we should be okay.

Forget Ireland mate if he's only in light training.

He's got to play Benjani with Tevez. Benjani may not be the world's best, and Scums CBs are not exactly setting the house on fire, but if Benj plays he can occupy them leaving Tevez to run about and do his stuff. If Tevez is the main front man then his value will be lessened.

If for any reason Benjani cant play, stick Bellamy up top.

Shit... we really need to get ourselves a playmaker/ creative midfielder in the summer.

Barry looks fucking knackered I am not sure if he can play another game so soon.
