Sky sports provides us with the ramblings of an idiot:

David Beckham believes Manchester City will never be bigger than his former club Manchester United.

The two teams go head-to-head on Tuesday in the Carling Cup semi-final first leg at Eastlands with many City fans confident of turning over their local rivals.

Backed by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan's millions there is a real sense that the Blues can turn the tables and become the leading team in Manchester after years of heartache.

However Beckham insists it takes more than money to dislodge a team with the history and standing of Manchester United.

"City will never be bigger than United," he told the Daily Mirror.

"Being successful and one of the most recognised clubs in the world doesn't come from the money. It's about history."

The 34-year-old added that although he has not donned the Red shirt for nearly seven years he could still never envisage himself playing for City: "I'd never sign for Manchester City.

"It doesn't matter about money (Spoke the MLS star), it's always about loyalty. United are the team I supported and the team I played for and I just couldn't bring myself to sign for City."

The England international will come up against United for the first time in March when AC Milan travel to Old Trafford in the last-16 of the UEFA Champions League and Beckham is adamant that if he scores he will not celebrate.

"It's going to be a weird feeling playing against United at Old Trafford. But I am ready for it now," he admitted.

"I wouldn't celebrate if I scored. It would take me a split second to compose myself and remind myself I couldn't because when you score a goal it's a rush and it's an instinct to celebrate.

"But if it happened at Old Trafford I would curb that instinct."

1. Oh thats a shame because actually you would be very welcome here.
2. Oh really that is why you signed for MLS. If it doesn't matter send me [strike]some[/strike] loads.

Idiot of the highest magnitude.

Ha ha, that Ponce never fails to give you a laugh does he.

Remember his inspired analysis on Kaka last year stating that "Money isn't everything and its about playing for the best clubs and winning trophies" ..... which is exactly why Beckham signed for LA Galaxy isn't it, just to play for the biggest teams and win trophies.

Posh must be keeping possession of the family brain cell this week whilst old Ponceface goes to get another wrongly spelled tattoo on his advertising space, sorry body.

I'm pretty gutted about this, I honestly thought there was a chance of City developing and having a sustained period of success and attracting the best players in world football.

Now that Becks has ruled himself out of a move to Eastlands, the whole project seems like a complete waste of time.

Devo'd

Me and another blue mate were watching it with 8 reds and were launching coins at them (pretty fucking hard).....it got a bit fractious that day in the boozer!

I was actually at the swamp when Pish and Becks had just started seeing each other.

Think they were playing West Ham...she was there and received a very amusing cockerrrnay accented rendition of "Who's up Posh's arse, Who's up Posh's arse....David David Beckham is, David David Beckham is"

I laughed

Fucking knob.

This is the third or fourth time this fool has gone on about tradition and history out-weighing money, when he sacrificed what should have been the peak of his career for a fucking sunday league and a load of cash.

Don't talk to us about money you fucking hypocrite.

Another life long United fan, born and raised darn sarf.

Says it all.

Not sure mate, just remember as a kid thinking "I wonder if my mum will be mad with me if I join in and throw a coin as well" haha.

Ashley Cole gets a fair bit of stick as well with regards to his Mrs. Both deserve it though in my opinion.

No the coin game was at Miane rd wasn't it, we lost 1-0 a beckahm free kick - SWP missed a bit of a sitter early in the 1st half.

The crippling was at OT, Kene would not be alive this day if it had been at our place.
