Don't get me wrong...I actually like the lad smiler...but Mancini needs to get it out of his head that he should be in the first team...was woeful when he came on last night...he just cannot hold up a ball...for a relatively tall lad he is shite at heading...

He just reminds me of the ghost of christmas past

I know we are short right now but id rather we blood a promising youngster to be fair

are we talking Benjani here?
I thought he was fucking crap last night. I can't stand him at the best of times (I know, I know, get behind the players etc) but last night was particularly woeful

OK on the flip side.

Benjani got no service to his feet or chest to enable him to hold the ball up for us. He has never been a player to chase down the ball, I really dont understand the substitution. We should have put petrov on and told him to chase everything and pressure them high up the pitc, I think we would have had at leat 2-3 breakaway opportunities if Petrov was brought on instead on Whoopi.

Petrov would've given us width and the chance to play some balls over the top behind their defenders. This would have turned their whole team bringing their midfield back towards their defence and allowing us to play further up the pitch.

From the changes Mancini made I dont think he wanted to do this at all and was happy to defend deep and bring our midfield closer to the defence.

Once that was done the only job Benjani had to do was to chase the bollocks off everything for ten minutes and he failed to do that at all.

Ade would've been a much better target man than Banjani but not sure how he would've chased. Of our forwards only Carlos and Bellamy do that.

Sums up my thoughts about him perfectly.

When someone gives him a pass, ball bounces off him longer than many people can kick.

While I wasn't happy seeing Benjani in, Tevez was dead and needed to be taken off. He could barely breath.

I thought Benjani played awesome the other week. He assisted 3 and the ball stuck to him like glue. I was surprised as anyone, his first touch was top notch that day.

Benjani got lucky with those assists though, he never meant any of them. But a lucky player is a good omen.

I'd take another shoulder-esq goal next week for sure!

Tevez has got a hamstring niggle so it makes perfect sense. (taking him off that is). We're really going to need him at OT. Bejani looked slower to me than he did v Boro, he's got worse rather than better since he came back. I recon he's an injury waiting to happen. Sell him to Steve Bruce.

I remember an old quote about Stan Collymore - 'he can trap a ball further than most people can kick it'.

If Mancini allegedly rates those who put the effort in then Benjani should never play again. His effort was pathetic. A cup semi he should have run his nuts off. At times the scum had posession just a few yards from him and he just stood and watched. Any academy player would have put in more effort than that. all he had to do was chase them down and be a nuisance he was a disgrace.

entirely agree - he played ok the other week, still a very mediocre performance and he was lucky we had some decent players to mop up his miss hits to goal i.e tevez and richards continuing his run on the assumption benjani would fuck it up

OOOOOOOOHHHH.....lookie here

In this morning's Sun the West Ham owners David Gold and David Sullivan have decided they WLTM disaffected, sulking, quite tall strikers who want to learn to live again. Benni McCarthy, who "has made no secret of his desire to leave Ewood Park", Manchester City oddity Benjani and James Beattie, "who is keen to leave Stoke", have all left hopeful messages on Gollivan's Soulmates voicemail looking for fun, strained photo opportunities, a painful struggle against both relegation and insolvency and maybe more. Must like beards, men who stare and being pawed.
