You haven't specified whether it has to go in the hole as I have smacked some monsters.

I just answered it- he did it in the '90s. I've seen the video on YouTube a couple of years back, and to me it's nothing spectacular. I'm pretty surprised that it's the longest (albeit only for televised events- it was the Celebrity Masters if I recall correctly).

Wrong BiB I have just told you it was on SSN the other morning and it's unusual but in relative terms its the longest put ever and it goes miles.

Fergus Muir made a 375-foot putt on the par-3 fifth hole at St. Andrews Eden course for a hole in one.

The Longest Televised putt is by short-game wizard Dave Pelz at Whistling Straits in the run-up to the 2004 PGA Championship.

In 1981, Terry Wogan set the world record for the longest successful golf putt ever televised, which was 33 yards (30.2m) at the Gleneagles golf course in a pro-celebrity TV programme on the BBC.

Hey Gillie,

With all your thousands of kids...DO YOU QUALIFY FOR THE LONG JUMP RECORD?.....(AND HOW MANY DAYS DID IT LAST???)

Denis law's backheel "PUT" the rags out of Div 1 for a full year...That was pretty long "PUT".

and...

The Glazers "PUT" the rags in nearly a biilion pounds of debt.....That's a MASSIVE put.

I think you are referring to someone (I think it may have been Ballesteros) who putted a ball down the alley of a plane. So technically from where he hit it to where it stopped was many miles. But it didn't "getin the 'ole", so a bit of a stretch.

sorry gillie i saw it on ssn the other day and thought it said balesteros....but i just found this online:

For a twist: On the eve of the Ryder Cup in 1999, Spain’s Jose Maria Olazabal putts a ball a record 9.2 miles during a Concorde flight to the United States. His putt broke American Brad Faxon’s 1997 world record of 8.5 miles (13.68 kilometres) and travelled the length of the supersonic airliner’s 150 foot cabin in 26.17 seconds to land in the cup at the first attempt. With Concorde travelling at 1,270 mph, the ball was actually in motion for 9.232 miles, a spokeswoman for British Airways said. The flight time of three hours six minutes was also a record for the London Boston route.
