Man City eye Real's Gago - report
(AFP) – 1 hour ago

MADRID — Manchester City have made an offer for Real Madrid's Argentina midfielder Fernando Gago, who is desperate to leave the club after spending too much time on the bench, a Spanish newspaper said Monday.

Gago "will try until the end to convince Madrid to let him leave, and for that he is meeting on Monday with (sporting director) Jorge Valdando to discuss his future," the daily Marca said.

"The best offer is from Manchester City, which is ready to pay 15 million euros."

But it said Real appear reluctant to let him go.

Gago, 23, joined Real Madrid in January 2007 from Boca Juniors to replace another Argentinian, Fernando Redondo.

But he has spent much of this season on the bench, and is keen for more first-team play ahead of the World Cup in South Africa in June.

I like Gago.

Vieira is a short term signing, Gago is a long term signing.

Plus there are loads of chants gago could have. Pretty much every lady gaga song could be adapted.... not that you'd want to.

gago is young an promising but I hope he understands that he's not gonna be chose ahead de jong, barry or Vieira anytime soon - although mancio does seem to like to have a 4-3-3 (once we're in the lead) formation so he might be alright

Gago is a good player, but I'm not entirely sure we need another central midfielder of that kind. Mind you, if Barry needs an operation, we might get Gago and then allow him to have it, so that we will have a fully fit player for the end of the season.

Decent enough footballer but just another allround 'water carrier' really, not someone who pulls the strings in an attacking sense.

Thing is, he isn't THAT young anymore. At 24, you should be close to your prime.

And he wouldn't get a look in over De Jong, Barry, Ireland and Vieira.

Gago and his agent are meeting with Jorge Valdano right now, to convince Real to let him go, apparently to City (though I'm not too sure about that). He is suffering anxiety and losing sleep/world cup blah blah and all that high-paid bollox because he aint in the team.

Madrid are reluctant mainly because Diarra is currently injured so they are short of back-up.

I agree i think GB has been really under par this season.

He is capable of much much more than he is showing atm.

He's 23, as a holding midfielder, he's still got a couple of years until he will be at his best. I don't think he's as bad as you makeout, he's not as good as a lot of people seem to think, I agree with you there

SSN are reporting that someone's nailed Brian Swanson to a door & set fire to it. Unfortunately nothing they say is ever true.
