I hope he has a good half season with them, Coyle appreciates a talented player so should give him a fair crack.

Fingers crossed he comes back next season ready to challenge SWP/Bellers/Petrov

Iron clinch McDermott loan deal

Scunthorpe have completed the loan signing of Manchester City midfielder Donal McDermott until the end of the season.

The 20-year-old Irishman, on loan with League Two side Chesterfield earlier this season, goes straight into manager Nigel Adkins' squad for Wednesday's home game with Sheffield Wednesday.

McDermott played against the Iron for the Spireites in the Carling Cup first round earlier this season when Scunthorpe ran out 2-1 winners.

He scored five times in 15 league appearances for John Sheridan's side before returning to Eastlands in October.
