Buffon B*ll*x

Postby blues-clues » Tue Jan 26, 2010 11:46 am

WTF?

From the BBC bollox. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/footbal ... 480002.stm

1130 GMT: Manchester United and Manchester City will battle it out to sign Italian international goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon after the Juventus stopper claimed he was ready to quit the Turin outfit. (Tuttosport)

Why would we be linked with Buffon?

Given & Hart not good enough?

Oh yeah is is playing in Italy.

Edited title: I am really sorry for swearing!

I laughed quite a lot when I read that!

I'm not sure who are the world's top 5 keepers at the moment.....Buffon's probably still up there. But, as Roberto said last week....so is Shay

Now United, they could do with a new (decent) goalie. But nothing for him here

I can see this happening... Mancini was proper mad when Given let in the first goal under his management... Also Stuart Taylor showed he was clearly not a prem goalie against Scun so we need a new reserve goalie and I can see Shay going into the reserves

Shay playing in the reserves? I just got my morning laugh. He is def in the top five in the world, but you would put him in the reserves?

So list me the medals he has won then in this great career he has had to get to top 5

I think the fact that he has been ever-present for us since we bought him is enough. What would it say about our team if a player gets into amazing form just to be dropped because someone else has more medals? The keeper spot has been the only one since last january that I have never once even considered the idea of needing a new keeper. I think the fact that we have a great player in Hart on loan shows how solid of a keeper shay is, why would we put hart another spot further down the bench? The best players don't always win the medals...

Are you serious... medals....

Have you watched the guy play....

Given is probably the best keeper in the country atm, and across his career probably the most consistant keeper the prem has seen.

He'll win a fuck load of medals here don't you worry son, then he'll be top class right...

You were actually being serious???????

Buffon is a great keeper, but so is Shay. I wouldn't disagree re the fact we could do with a higher quality number 2, but that won't be Given.....not on your nelly mate.

I read this as well and it made me laugh...

Although, this is the same poster who said Shay causes us serious defensive problems and quite a few other posts saying he is a weak link....

Crazy stuff.

And the reason he has no medals is because, although he admitted there was interest from Arsenal and Liverpool through the years, he always wanted to be a one club man (once he moved to newcastle), until it was evident Newcastle were on the scrap heap.

In case you didn't know, he was only signed last January and we haven't won anything yet, but I'm quite confident he will pick up some medals before he retires. Also, he's widely known since he joined us as being one of if not THE best in the premier league. In arguably the best league in the world.

Also, Trappatoni and Mancini both said he is the best goalkeeper they have ever worked with.

Hope that helps you get over the fact he hasn't won anything with Newcastle and also that at international level, he doesn't play for one of the 6 countries that tend to win everything.

Given a reserve goal keeper? Fucking hilarious, even for you!

I know you link yourselves to big teams to drum up interest but linking to us was a mistake as everybody knows we don't need him. The fact everybody links to us though shows how far we have come.
