Barcelona Make Shock Move For Shaun Wright-Phillips

Spanish and European champions FC Barcelona are eyeing a shock move for Manchester City winger Shaun Wright-Phillips.

Local newspapers have reported that Wright-Phillips has tried to extend his Eastlands deal, which has three years to run.

However it is believed that the two parties have failed to reach an agreement – alerting Barcelona, who are trying to put together a shock swoop for the England star by 5pm on Monday.

It is believed that Barcelona could offer £7million plus teenage striker Bojan Krkic.

this club has a history, irregardless of who is in charge, of not looking after their own - hope this one gets sorted out.

That said, he's still got 3 years left on his current contract so WTF?

He has 3 years to run on his contract, call me old fashioned but with 3 years left why on earth is there any need for a new one for a guy who will be nearly 32 when the current one expires?????? Yes we love SWP, but we are not a charity either.

That said I would be amazed if Barca were genuinely interested in him.

I wouldn't. SWP, if anyone, is underrated among supporters. People take him for granted. He is one of the best in the world in dribbling and taking the ball from attack to defence. How many times has he topped the dribbles/game chart in Premier League?

I'm not joking either. I honestly believe it.

Technically they're only quoting the S*N newspaper.

My reading of that article is that they are considering putting in an offer. It's a long long way from them actually making an offer and even further away than us accepting it.

Besides, I would be worried if our players didn't interest Europe's biggest clubs!

Think he`s been very disappointing since his return to us.I wouldn`t be to upset if he left ,think he`s overrated to be honest.

Why are his agents trying to extend his contract when he's not even half way through this one? Will he (& therefore they) get a sudden pay rise if they succeed? Isn't it an amazing coincedence that Barca are 'considering' making an offer for him at the very time those negotiations are taking place?

It's almost as if someone's contacted them, asked them if they're interested & then reported to the press when they said "errm we'll think about it". Ian Wright works for the Sun newspaper & is quoted slagging off Cook & Marwood but surley he wouldn't behave like that & it's purely a coincedence?

Ian's always looked after Shaun's interests though. Almost got him his dream move to Portsmouth a few years back.

Wasn't SWP one of the lads getting racist abuse when England played Spain? I'm sure he'd jump at the chance to go over there.
