Are You Happy About Todays Game?

Postby Niall Quinns Discopants » Sun Jan 31, 2010 3:27 pm

Are you happy about today's game?

I have to say that I'm little bit baffled about all the moaning and whining on official match thread. Personally I felt we showed extreme professionalism in getting past a shit side after all the emotions of wednesday. Seems to me that we are slowly getting rid of 'typical City'.

I'm not on a wind up here by the way. Just little bit amazed about the reactions.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

we have no movement when going forward. i know mancini wants to concentrate on the defence but he cannot forget about going forward.

I went for not sure because, we played like shit, a couple of passengers out there on the pitch today, specially in midfield imo (neat pass aside)

BUT

we won 2-0, and its only the best sides that play like shit and still win, so I am happy about that

link up play left lot to be desired for but I felt we clicked fantastically well on few occasions.

It was terrible to watch.
Was just as bad as the football we played under Pearce.

I'm always pretty happy when we take 3 points. I think we were pretty limited in changes we could make with both Zabba and Kompany going off injured, otherwise Bellamy probably comes on a little earlier, and we get at least one more goal.

we looked flat and disjointed for most of the game.

however, we got the three points and a clean sheet to boot so i'm not going to complain. the first game after wed night was always going to be hard, but we've got it out of the way and it's onward and upwards.

I picked "not sure" because I am glad we got the 3 points, but some of the stuff we played today was dreadful.

i agree. it wasn't anything consistent, but there were 4-5 really nice moments tucked into an underwhelming display.

Who can be unhappy with 3 pts barring any injury concerns? i'm fine with it. job done. Next.

I'm happy because we won but anyone with eyes can see that that was an awful team performance. One of the worst ive seen in quite a while. I nearly fell asleep. We could barely string 3 passes together and were gifted 2 goals by TBH's shitness. I also thought we looked totally lop sided first half and were very very lucky to escape with a clean sheet.
But all in all 3 points = happy.

something puzzling me is petrov on the right.

why does mancio persist with it? every time he gets the ball we lose our attacking shape.

What I want to know is why a one-footed left-winger was out on the right and a central midfielder, a very slow one at that, was trying to be a left-winger? After it was obvious this was shite, another central midfielder got stuck on the left. Bellamy or SWP should've definitely been in ahead of Barry or Ireland. We also desperately need an attacking midfielder, cos Barry doesn't really do any attacking OR defending and Ireland has lost all form.

I can't really form an opinion as the streams were all dropping so gave up.

Bottom line is 3 points in the bag.

Lets just hope we can do the same at Hull next week.

Happy we got the 3 points but some of that was terrible to watch. We link up well up top and in defence, the passing is nice and crisp but as the ball moves through midfield time seems to slow to a stop. Portsmouth were actually playing some nice stuff at times, passing in triangles (which is something we rarely do) but they've not got the quality to finish.

What was up with Ireland today? I know he played the pass for the first goal but sometimes when players got past him he just seemed to stop and throw his hands up in the air rather than tracking back.

that's so fucking ridiculous statement that I don't know what to say really.

It wasn't the best performance ever but to even compare that to Pearce football is laughable. Or just amazing.

ireland won the match today with his ball over the top. i'll gladly suffer through 89 minutes and 55 seconds of whatever he was doing today for that one moment that wins a match. Isn't that ultimately his fuclin job? Overall...lackluster and let down on the whole but 3 pts. What did you expect after Wednesday? the denouement could have been much more depressing to be honest.

pleasus christ.

cheers
