I think the point was that we would appeal. He doesn't meet the basic criteria for work permit so surely club knew that initial application would be turned down.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Do we have the time for the appeal though? I don't think so.

Can't really get excited about this guy to be honest.

Looking at his country and their international standing it looked like a Work Permit might be a major problem. If anybody is to come in I'd like the kid Johnson as you can seem him featuring for us over the coming years.

Sure that must be the case. A lot of our deals have gone through on appeal & they must have good reason to expect this one to be the same. I think there's some kind of criteria where the player quaifies as 'an exceptional talent' so I presume that's what they're after.

(Unless they decide we were taking the piss out of them with Jo of course.)

Lol! Jo may have exceptional talent, though at what it is yet to be discovered. Maybe its hair-growing?

By the sounds of that its like its still on?

SSN just get giddy and report whatever they like.

Yup. To try and increase the alleged drama of deadline day. Dunno about you lot but I am sick of hearing and reading the phrase "before the window slams shut".

The reporter on the BBC live text thing, that Stevenson bloke, is slightly irksome at times as well.

Maybe we should of done a 'Garry Cook' and put Manchester United on his application. Those twats could get a work permit for Bin Laden.

An increased leave-it-or-take-it bid for Gago probably and hopefully Boro accept the new and improved bid on Johnson.

Shame about Mariga. I quite fancied the look of him.

From the BBC.

So basically just because Kenya are lower ranked in the world he was rejected a permit.

Fucking pathetic.

Yet Anderson had NO caps for Brazil, but still got a permit.
And what about that shite Angolan Manucho?

FFS we could have done with someone in midfield who's able to get up & down the pitch.

I think it's fairly ridiculous as well. What's the difference in being 69th or 98th in FIFA rankings? I'm sure both countries would be equally shite. Furthermore, it's hardly his fault he has shit teammates.

Hope not. Too similar to Barry and de Jong (and Vieira, if that transfer was real...beginning to think he's just Mancio's best friend and he wanted the company) for my liking. We need a box-to-box type midfielder who can get forward and help out in attack.

They also argued he will bring exceptional talent to the Premier League.
