SAFE!

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

SAFE!

Postby Niall Quinns Discopants » Mon Feb 01, 2010 1:11 pm

Just realised we hit 40 point mark yesterday! Another season of Premier League to look forward to!
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Mate...I dunno how to say it, really, but...maybe it's time we stop thinking about that as our first aim of the season? I mean, if a season goes exceptionally bad and we find ourselves in March around the end of the table, ok, we will talk about avoiding relegation, but on a normal season like this one, it's a thought that we should never even enetertain. We should look above us, not below.

EDIT: Just realised you were probably talking in jest, so it's ok then ;)

KK referenced this yesterday, which made me smile as that was once a realistic target for the season

last time I pointed this out I thought it was a joke, but we went to sleep for the rest of that season (under Psycho I think)
Never criticise a man until you've walked a mile in his shoes.
That way when you do criticise him you'll be a mile away.
And you'll have his shoes.

Are you suggesting that because such a landmark was achieved so early in the season we should perhaps not have changed manager????

Those were the days eh. Thought I was going to die due to lack of stimulation.
And we never even got Mido.

The OP actually brought a smile to my face as i remembered all the years where reaching 40 points was themain aim of the season. To be doing it in January is fantastic in comparison to those barren years.

Think safety is going to be a lot less than 40 pts this season.

Very true. I always used to think if we now can get together a nice run of two/three wins in a row we'll be 9th/10th/11th etc.. And it always resulted in a defeat.
So let's just take a game at a time. ;o)
