Because Merson, Nicholas,Thompson, LeTissier Dowie and Lawrenson say so. Personally I dont think we will finish 4th, im looking higher. We have a squad good enough to challenge for the title, and with a lot of luck, clean bill of health, we can definately finish higher than Arsenal.

5 would be very suprised if we finish above 4th - on the same note I would be suprised if we finish below it

I actually feel that we will either finish fourth OR get to the final of the FA Cup

I am pleased that everyone is saying that we can't do it. It surprises me that they are saying that actually as I'd have imagined they would be trumpeting us as being "nailed on" for fourth spot...just so that they could slate us if we failed to bag it.

Either way I don't really care what the media turds are saying about us. I am enjoying the season massively. We are finally finally in the big time and I am loving it

We are in a fantastic position and will only have ourselves to blame if we don't make it from this point forward. Despite the 70 draws in a row we are still the favourite, the games in hand thing is masking that a little at the moment.

Spurs seem to be suffering from some injuries at the moment.

Liverpool lack enough quality.

Villa are a danger as they play better than their team would suggest on paper, but we should beat them at home which will be enough.

I worry about the away form though, Stoke away will be tough.

It's quite hilarious that even Villa and Spurs are getting mentioned for top 4 yet for some inexplicable reason it seems that they can't see us in the table at all

It's like a very small minority can see us there with a couple of games in hand...

Perhaps we should get this guy to be a football pundit...

arse away
and us dealing with the pressure as a team, seeing as virtually none of them( i know there are a couple) will have been in this position. Apart from those 2 teams mentioned everybody decent/up there has to come to us.

to be fair a lot of rival fans think we will do it - its just the press and pundits that are ney saying - let them I say

edit - and the way we always appear to be an after thought as well does my nut -

Pundit 1) with spurs and villa vying for 4th place its gonna be a tight league this year
pundit 2) and manchester city of course... (in that questioning manner, like we're the real outside bet)

We will finish 3rd or 4th! Fact!! There are only 3 teams arguably better than us in this league. COMS is a fortress. We're getting the team back to full fitness going into the second half of the season. We dont have Europe this year as a distraction. Mancio has won 7 in 9. Champions League next season lads. Get ready for it!!!

Last Saturday on Football Focus. Lawrenson did actually state that he thought City would finish fourth.

Since then we've won one and Arsenal lost.

I think we can finish third. We need to take a point off Chelsea and Arsenal away and remove Liverpool from the argument. ( Those six pointers mentioned on another thread). United at home is another revenge match. However, it's only important that we don't lose these games. The 'lesser' teams are there for us to beat.

I think we can definitely afford to lose these two games, but we must perform against Stoke away etc.

The above mentioned arseholes probably believe that we can finish in the top 4, but the truth is they dont want us to finish in the top 4. This to me proves that they are running scared of their beloved 4 being disrupted. Come on City finish 3rd and shove it right down their self opinionated throats.

As arsenal lost against the rags and they have chelski and scouse 1 for their next two games,we might be right up their arse with two games in hand very soon

I reckon 3rd is a real real possibility - have been quietly confident for a while now.
Long as we can keep beating the teams lower than us and piling up the points its all confidence boosters for the "top 4" matches.
City look good and I am buzzing! love being blue...

I think Spurs and villa will start to fall off, Liverpool have some hard games coming up and may drop points, and with us having 3 game's in hand on them if we can pick up all 9points i don't see no reason why we won't be favourites for 4th or even higher.

agreed, also the chumps league and europa league are also starting again this month. They will all have to travel europe and the europa is liverpools only chance of a trophy and benitez will be under pressure to win something and get 4th spot. Plus they have a thin squad, a couple ore injuries and they might be too far behind to recover once their big guns are all back.

Arsenal will be realistically looking at the champs league as well, so this will be a welcome distraction for us.

If we really get some good form going, we will walk it.

There's no reason why we can't be playing in the Champion's League next season. I always believed we would - even when Hughes was in charge.

Just seen Merson on SSN stating that besides Paddy Vieira there are no other medal winners in the team. I swear sometimes I think that guy must be on drugs or something.

I'm pretty sure we can finish higher than fourth, but will we do it? Who knows. As the fourth spot goes, though, I really think we are the favourites at the moment.

Yeh I just saw that. What a prick. Ade, Toure, Sylvinho, Robinho, Tevez, Bellamy, SWP, Bridge...? How is this clown employed as a football pundit? He has absolutely no knowledge of the game. I bet he can barely remember his own career through the haze of his alcohol and drug abuse!
