Do they have a City future

Postby ant london » Wed Feb 03, 2010 2:16 pm

I was just musing over the players we currently have on loan at other clubs, the new players we've seen blooded in the first team and those who have not yet been out on loan or involved with the senior team.

There's quite a list but see what you think of the loan rangers and give any views you have on the ones who have not yet featured (or who have):

I've grouped mine into categories

Won't see them in sky blue again and I'm not bothered- Jo, Robinho, Etuhu, Benjani

Probably won't see them again but wouldn't mind doing so Bojinov, Caicedo

Might come back, might not: Logan, Vidal, McGivern, Hart

They'll be back for more: Weiss, McDermott, Clayton

In terms of the other youngsters I think we will definitely be seeing more of both Boyata and Ibrahim. Before he knackered his leg it seemed like David Ball was looking good for some action (having made the bench for the first swamp derby).

I'd like to see both Mak and Nimely get maybe a sniff around the first team this season (along with Trippier if his form has picked up as I believe someone said it looked to have done) and then them to be sent out for the first half of season next year on loan.

Andrew Tutte, Scott Kay and Gregg Cunningham are unknown quantities to me. Interesting to hear what those who have seen them have to say

The one who really surprises me in that we have heard nothing re loans or first team involvement is Ben Mee. I thought he looked really promising in pre-season and have heard bugger all about him since.

I may have missed people but what do you lot reckon?

Didn't know Ball had knackered his leg ? Shame as he was looking to make the step up as you say
can't see Boj coming back - and to be honest, I'll not lose sleep over it

Agree with the rest though Weiss for certain - McDermot and Clayton I am not so sure about but we'll see

I think the only ones that are nailed on to come back are Weiss and Hart. I think we have outside chances of seeing Vidal, McDermott and Clayton back, but these players were all ahead of Ibrahim, Boyata etc and have seemed to have slipped behind them in making the bench.

If Vidal and McDermott can impress at Championship level they may well have a chance of a return to the squad, Clayton seems to be impressing at Carlisle but I see him as more doubtful as it will be very hard to get any game time in centre mid with us.

I think Etuhu and Logan have had their chances with us, but will both end up at Championship clubs next year, I think we have just moved on a little too quickly for them. I would expect to maybe see them in the Premier League in the future and do a bit of a Tyrone Mears/Glen Whelan number.

McGivern is not good enough for us, and i expect him to be released. He's not impressed greatly at Leicester. No doubt he will find a Championship team to go to, but he's not quick enough to make it at City.

Jo, Bojinov and Caciedo I expect all to move on to foreign clubs, I would of liked to have seen more of Caciedo and Boj but's just not to be. Sometimes it works out and sometimes it doesn't. Benji won't be given a new contract, but can see him being snapped up on a free by one of the lower Prem teams.

Robinho is anybody's guess. I'd like him to come back and prove us wrong, but I just don't think he has the balls.

With regards to Mee, I think he maybe one of those lads that looks great at youth level and just doesn't kick on. I remember Garry Breen looking good in our youth team at centre half, and also Curtis Obeng. Both never made it. Think Obeng ended up at Wrexham and Breen at Hereford and then went back to Ireland.

I can see the same happening to Mee, I hope I'm wrong but he seems to have fallen behind Dedryk, Vidal, Cunningham and Trippier if recent squads are anything to go by.

What happened to Karl Moore? i remember Grob saying he always looked good in the youth and reserves. I'm sure he had a loan out maybe last year and then we have never heard of him since.

I like to think if they don't make it with us, then they will still get a good career out of the game, and certainly has ben the case id you look at the amount of players plying their trade across the leagues that started off at our academy.

Paul Marshall - he was another that looked very talented at youth level, but has ended up at Aberdeen on a free.

I may be wrong but I thought Karl Moore had been released quite recently.

I think you are right Doug, has he gone anywhere or is he in the free agent limbo with Michael Ball and Glauber Berti?

I think he was on trial at Leyton Orient in December if I'm not mistaken?

I reckon we would see Jo again in blue as Mancini did see he will give everybody a chance before writing them off.

I think Boj has gone for good because we were trying to use him as a makeweight in the MacDonald transfer with Parma
I must remember to get a new signature.....
