Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

I went for Shay Given. Often lauded as the best GK in the Prem but has come in for some criticism on here for his "defend the goal line" attitude.
Also I thought it would be good to start at 1 and work our way through.
I KNOW THAT YOU BELIEVE THAT YOU UNDERSTOOD WHAT YOU THINK I WROTE, BUT I AM NOT SURE YOU REALISE THAT WHAT YOU READ IS NOT WHAT I MEANT

I went for Stephen Ireland
In some of the recent matches he seems to have copped a fair bit of flak and he looked pretty good to me. I'd like to have a better view of whether I'm wearing shamrock tinted specs or others being too harsh

I went for Barry as he's not been playing no where near his best and the other vote went to Adam Johnson for the reason he's gonna be talked about anyway.

I went for De Jong and Barry, I think barry is coming under alot of cristicism lately for being in effective however i think De Jong only provides one thing in the middle ie breaking up play, he never runs with the ball never passes it forward and constantly slows up our game taking to many touchs, i think he is a "luxury" in this regard and not one thats enjoyable to eye,,
I think barry could sit in there on his own and do his role quite effectively, maybe the tackles wudnt be as hard but passes would go forward and it would free someone up someone else

Ade for me. I want to see if he really doesnt jump for a ball and how often he puts sprints in.

I voted for Adam Johnson, would be quite interesting to analyse him in his first ever game, then any further alaysis can be compared with his performance to see if and how he is improving or fading.....
Looks like it's gonna be gazza bazza though, he seems to be winning the vote atm.
Is there not the potential that this idea is going to turn out to be a thread used just for player bashing. I've seen criticism for a few players and it seems to be those players who are leading the vote....
If it goes that way then it will be a pointless idea as people will no doubt only focus on the negatives rather than discuss the overall performance.

I voted Barry as I want to see how he gets on...Personally, although he has tapered off a little during the season...I still think he brings a lot to the team that goes largely unnoticed...perhaps this will give an indication either way.

Are you serious? More like a necessity if you ask me and there is nothing I enjoy more ( apart from us scoring) than Nig launching into a tackle in the midfield battle.

I went for Nige and Barry, as these are the two players id like to see analysed first as I dont think we should be playing both. Ithink when we play Nige it means we push barry further up the pitch an he simply is not good enough to play this role. Barry has had his best games when De jong hasnt played......thats my justification anyway. cheers

Barry -
Also went for Dedryk.
Think he is doing some good stuff that should be recognised in this sort of analysis.

I would rather analyse a player who has made me wonder "WTF or how or why" for both good and bad reasons, rather than how they perform because of their state of mind.

Yeah I get that. For me it will interesting purely because it is both their first game (for different reasons) for us. Next week I might decide Barry and Tevez ... cos they've both had a haircut and I want to see how it affects their running

If Barry wins this vote it will be a ridiculous player to analyse. You would be analysing a player in need of an operation and a long rest.
