This is great, we should find a way round this Blues, these fucking greed heads shouldn't be allowed to stop us from watching God's Own Team.
If the game's being ignored in a bar in Turkey or Shanghai, I think it's fair we should have access, and I don't want to fill the pockets of some Sky/Setanta/ESPN shareholder to get it.

It's a loophole as your not linking to streams your linking to a cityfans blog which does NOT affect you in anyway. I think you will agree that is a pretty fair way to get around it.

Top idear mate would you like your job back? ;)

Click my sig to see the template in action on the blog. I might set up a dedicated offshore site for them eventually but for now free blog will do.

Looks good mate that will do nicely.

its simple just copy and paste the link then change it so its no a link anymore but everyone can still get to see the matches

I'm pretty sure a 'members only' forum suffices legally under English law. However, linking to such sites in a publicly open forum is pretty much illegal on a British-hosted site. Most European countries won't punish sites posting links, although Britain will occasionally flex its muscles for the big boys:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TV_Links
That's a brief summary of one such case. The site is reopened now, albeit with a different suffix.

There is nothing wrong with posting a link to a stream site like Myp2p, as long as you do not post the actual stream link.

Isn't that where Vhero and BBL get them from anyway?

This is my personal favourite solution. Surely we can't get in trouble for having a link to a site showing a link to a site that shows the games!??

No you cannot as you yourself hold no responsibility for what's on MY site that's my responsibility :). The best thing is its hosted on a free server so if they shut it down I will just open a new one.

As a lawyer (a horrible phrase, I know), I don't see what they could do. The key issue is how much is really under your control.

There was a test case only today in the Australian Federal court which is likely to become the test case for all Commonwealth countries. Bascially, the movie industry sued an ISP for allowing Peer-to-peer sharing to take place on their network. Well... the movie industry lost the case, on the reasoning that it was too onerous to expect the ISP to monitor everything on their network.

It's too early to say how this will effect the wider law because more cases would be needed to apply the reasoning. At what point does the burden become too "onerous"? That would be the key question. But they could argue the forum us not the same as an ISP: members join and are given permission to post messages i.e. they could argue the site admins have the power to remove posts quickly and ban members who post such messages. Of course, for an ISP there could be more leniency.

Then there is the issue of who is actually "hosting" the football site.

Until the law settles down in this area (there is a Bill under discussion in parliament) I think it best if links are not posted on the site. Probably the best idea all round.
I must remember to get a new signature.....

I may be being dumb here but if other countries are allowed to show games from the Prem on a Saturday why can't they be shown here?.What i mean is Sky are obviously televising every game live as it happens then they show the highlights package on Saturday night with the match choice options so why they just show the games live on say a PPV basis each set of fans then get to see the games of the team they support and no legal probs.I am sure the NFL do this in Yankland for the American Football fans.

Not really. All NFL games are available on free, national broadcast stations.
*An exception has come up recently however, some games have been moved to an NFL owned network, with many fearing that we are moving to a point where all NFL games will be PPV.

Well all that means is that people have to stop relying on Vhero and BBL to do all the hard work and have a look themselves. Absolutely 0 point putting this place at risk for something which is so easy to get around.
PS I use liveonlinefooty and pay £7 every 2 months. Never lets me down and the quality is fantastic.
