The Good Old BBC League Predictor

Was dissappointed with myself when I clicked update at the end of the process to find Spurs and Liverpool above City :-(

I hate Wolves so much I decided to give them as least points as possible whilst been sensible with the rest.

Last Year i said (In April):

DHTP wrote:1. Rags 90 90
2. Dippers 84 86
3. Chelski 83 83
4. Arse 70 72
5. Villa 67 6th 62
6. Everton 63 5th 63
7. City 50 10th 50
8. Spuds 49 51
9. West Ham 49 51
10. Wigan 49 11th 45
11. Fulham 48 7th 53
12. Stoke 46 45
13. Bolton 45 41
14. Blackburn 44 15th 41
15. Pompey 43 14th 41
16. Hull 38 17th 35
17. Newcastle 36 18th 34

18. Sunderland 36 (gd) 16th 36
19. Boro 27 32
20. West Brom 25 32

So obviously the table wont look like that - too many contingencies e.g. GD at the bottom; Villa recovering a bit; Everton being a juggernaut; Fulham, Stoke and Us retaining home form; Spuds not being gash after all etc.
Only one thing felt ominously fucking certain - the twats.

What actually happened is in Yellow.

Fookin hell Antti....that took AAAAAAGES

anyway....here's mine (oh and I have no idea where the missing game is on that predictor...but makes no odds to the standings really apart from spurs/villa and wolves/hull)

It was MRM who started the topic!

And I'm NOT going to do this for good ten games yet. I'm PAP at predicting results.

I think the missing game is due to us still not having a home date with Everton settled.

Aren't you pessimistic bugger!!!

So far we've average 1.86 points per game. If we'd continue at that rate, and I don't see why we wouldn't, we'd get about 30 points from remaining games putting us to 71 points. Which, looking at the trend in past ten years, should be good for 3rd to 5th. Which I'd be very happy about.

Champions league...I must admit I got very bored half way through that and put in some very suspect results. I think wolves beat villa 4-1?!

Just had a chap in our office do it and he had Liverpool winning it, I asked for an explanation and got this from him.

My explanation for Liverpool coming 1st

• Liverpool beat Everton 5-0 at the weekend.
• Kuyt Scores 4.
• Gerrard Scores 1.
• Liverpool’s Morale is restored.
• Rooney gets injured for 5 months putting his world cup in doubt.
• The nation mourns.
• Lampard and John Terry are both affected by the news to a point that their performance is hindered in each game.
• Gerrard does not really care about the world cup as he is Mr. Liverpool.
• Gerrard Continues to flourish.
• The Return of Torres.
• Torres starts to flourish.
• Liverpool start winning games comfortable as the team starts to finally gel.
• Liverpool go top after beating Manchester Utd 2-1 at Old Trafford.
• Chelsea draw 1-1 with Arsenal to regain top spot the day after.
• Liverpool win their game in hand.
• Liverpool draw 1-1 with Chelsea.
• Arsenal go joint top with Liverpool however Liverpool have a better goal difference.
• Results are similar until the end of the season.
• Liverpool top the league after 38 games on goal difference.
• Man City win their last game to overtake United in 4th Place.
• Gary Neville is arrested for attacking Carlos Tevez.
• Gary Neville is banned for life.
• Gary Neville is Jailed in a maximum security prison full of beasts and rapists.
• Ferguson retires.
• Ferguson dies.
• Rooney misses out on the world cup.
• Beckford from Leeds Utd takes his place in the world cup squad (Not Owen)
• Owen retires.
• People point and laugh at Owen.
• Owen bows his head in shame.
• England meet Spain in the World Cup final.
• Gerrard scores a hatrick.
• Torres Scores a hatrick.
• Torres scores his penalty.
• Xabi Alonsi misses his penalty.
• Gerrard scores with his penalty and wins the world cup for England.
• Torres gets the golden boot.
• Gerrard gets European Footballer of the Year
• Torres gets world player of the year.
• Gerrard comes second.
• Rafa Benitez is knighted.
• Owen commits suicide.

Carlsberg don’t do silly fat blokes with stupid pathetic hopes and dreams. But if they did.................................................

It probably wouldn’t be this one.

More importantly, our home form has been pretty good (ignoring Burnley, Fulham, Hull, 2nd half against Wolves...) and we still have to play the 3 real competitors for 4th - Villa, Liverpool and Spurs, at home. 9 points from those 3 and we'd be a lot closer.
