Lokeren was a top trip, loads of funny things happened over the space of 2/3 days.

On train from airport to Brussels, the conductor was a top geezer, trying to sell us some weed and invited us to ride first class. When a different hector got on, he kicked off that we didnt have the right tickets and called the police at the next station so we got thrown off the train and warned about our conduct (even though we were genuinely being good as gold)

The bender the day before the match, got to around 3am, and a couple of our party were looking for a knocking shop. We travelled all around brussels spending a fortune in taxis, and finally gave up, going back to our hotel. One of the lads decides to take a piss behind the advertising hoarding next to the hotel, and notices that actually our hotel was slap bang in the middle of the red light district.

3 of the lads go in the first brothel. They could only rustle up 2 whores, so the 3 of them gets down to business in the same room, although the girls insisted it had to be strictly 2 guys, 2 girls on the bed at any one time. The only place to sit was on the bog in the room which was directly facing the bed, and was just...in the room... not a bathroom or anything. So one lad had to sit on the bog, bollock naked watching his 2 mates shag these two big fat brasses, after 5 minutes, he just couldnt stop laughing at some of the porno lines the other two were using, and pissed up he fell off the shitter and passed out on the floor.

We stayed at the Chow Chow palace hotel in Brussels right next to the Gare Du Nord. It was 4*, and a pretty nice gaff for £40 b&b. The morning after the incident above, there were a lot of blues up for breakfast looking very much the worse for wear. As we sat down to breakfast expecting a full english, we were directed to the buffet, which consisted of noodles, fried rice, and either sweet and sour or chilli sauce. It doesnt take a genius to work out that this was last nights food, and that the consequence was that during the match some 12 hours later, one of the lads who had been struggling with the squits all day shit himself straining to see over the fence when wanchope scored the goal.

The other long lasting memory from that trip was getting off the train in warzone Lokeren - seeing city fans swinging on the gun barrel of a tank, and carnage all over the place outside the boozer in the centre. Never seen a town centre as messy.

Actually, I convinced myself it finished 0-0. What was the actual score?

The season after we won the league at Newcastle, we went back for the league match. Lots of city fans in the Strawberry pub. I went for a piss and when I came out I was the only city fan in there. Got on great with some real hardcore geordie nutters. I was well pidded and ended up being dragged into the middle of their end. Was that pissed that I stayed there with them and led a rousing chant of "We are the champions"...They'd won the fairs cup so they all joined in.

Think it was the same season, certainly the same venue. We played Newcastle in the cup. Some knobhead pissed down the back of my jeans and I was arrested for chinning him. The copper put me in a room and told me to stay there, then he left me. It was a 1st aid room and a nurse came over to ask if I felt ok. I said yes and she told me I could go...I did sharpish.

At the same game (after I'd fucked off) I chucked a bog roll. A couple of seconds later, half a dozen coppers ran up and dragged a Newcastle fan stood next to me (who was totlly innocent) out of the ground.

Went to watch Oldham v Mansfield with a group of city fans...To repay a visit by some Chaddy Road Enders in the Kippax. I started to have a go at a bloke in a rag scarf...I gave him a load of grief and abuse...I got nicked, he was an undercover copper...ooops!

At the old (Stoke city) Victoria Ground, it had been a war zone in the Boothen End and the battle had gone on since well before the kick off. Tempers were really blown. At the final whistle I was trying to find a mate and trook my time getting out. Outside the ground, I was on my own and things were getting a bit hectic. I heard a massive chant for City so ran towards it, only to find it was several hungred WStoke fans on the warpath...I could run fuckin fast in those days....I scarpered.

A City v rags youth cup match in the late 60s at the swamp. They had about 3,000 in the Shitford End, We had about 50 in the scoreboard. Before the end, we watched their end empty and within a few minutes, a couple of thousand of them massed waiting for the gates to open outside our end. It was scary. As the gates opened, my mate shouted "CHARGE" and about 30 City rans ran at them. I was shitting myself and thought we would be leaving in a fleet of ambulances. It was hilarious as the massed rags turned tail and ran away. We fucled off the other way just to be on the safe side.

Could well have been, I remember it was a dark skinned bloke and a penalty wasnt it.

We were near the front and couldn't see a fucking thing because of the big banner behind the goal. Didnt see much of the match, too many burberry pricks in the ground scrapping with each other.

Great stories John, seems like you were a bit of a lad in your younger days.
