A scouting thread

Postby CityFanFromRome » Fri Feb 05, 2010 7:41 am

I've noticed that whenver we are linked with a player from outside UK who is not a world-known name, many here admit not having ever heard of him, which is of course fair as I had never heard of Subotic or Ansaldi either, not watching them regularly. However I did know a bit about Mariga, because he has played in Italy, in the league I follow besides the Prem.

So I was thinking that it might be a good idea if those living outside the UK, and following other leagues like Serie A, la Liga, Bundesliga, Ligue 1, etc. who are impressed by a player playing there, could write about him, so that if we ever get interested in that player, there is already info on him on the board.

Everyone will then have a basic understanding of what that player could offer, thus being more able to give opinons about him potentially being good signing or not.

Also, it could be a good idea to spot possible solutions for problems in the squad, for instance if we think there is need for a box-to-box midfielder, and someone spots a promising one in a foreign league, they could post about him here, and if there is someone in contact with the club the suggestion could be forwarded to MCFC.

Of course this should be done after a number of good games by that player, to avoid one-game wonders to "pollute" the discussion.

What do you think of it?

I have a mate who lives in Scotland. There's this greek chap plays for his local team. Samaras. Says he can't stop scoring and is definitely worth a punt. He says they've recently signed a well known Irish lad who may be in competition for his place. This can only make him score even more goals. Possibly one for the future.

I've heard his hair has been shortlisted for player of the year for the past 3 seasons. Is this true?

Scotland : Danny Wilson, Rangers, 18. The best young centre half I've seen in years. Strolled through champiosn league games and old firms ties at the age of 17. A class act who seems to have all the time in the world and reads the game so well it's not true. Linked with the Rags but hopefully the young lad will know better. He'll be a star and will be playing at the top end of the Premiership in the next 4/5 years.
