City boss Roberto Mancini has revealed he is well aware of the nickname Blues fans have given him over the past month or so – and he loves it.
The dapper Italian manager was warmly received from the moment he arrived in Manchester with his now famous blue and white scarf increasing his popularity ten-fold as well as becoming a topic of conversation for every football pundit in the country.

In fact, it seems everyone wants to follow the City boss’ fashion lead with more than 5,500 ‘Mancini’ scarves sold since they went on sale last month at the City Store.

Various City fan sites have been buzzing with Mancini activity in recent weeks, too, with many feeling he is the man who will lead the club back to the glory days in the coming months and years.

“I truly feel that we are on a cusp of the greatest time in the club’s history,” commented ‘Colinbellsboots’ on Bluemoon.co.uk. “I believe therefore that Bobby Manc will become our greatest ever manager.”

High praise indeed! But if anyone thought that the supporters dubbing the former Inter Milan chief ‘Bobby Manc’ would be lost in translation somehow, they possibly underestimated Mancini’s grasp of the English language – and his extensive local knowledge!

“I like it very much!” he smiled. “I understand that Bobby is short for Roberto in England and the fact that the first part of my surname is also short for Mancunian is perfect.

“I know that the supporters have given me this name as gesture of affection, but it is important that we win something for them this season and then many trophies in the future – then I will have given them something in return.

“But the nickname ‘Bobby Manc’ - yes, I like it a lot!”

Yes, if the league table were based on the coolness of the manager then we would be champions for sure! Rags would be relegated.

Nice to see bluemoon get some much needed publicity from the club at long last! Grrrrr

I thought our very own NQDP first came up with this nickname?
