Kit Thread (wooohoo!) - New England Away Shirt

Postby ant london » Wed Feb 10, 2010 7:03 am

Bizarrely this was "unveiled" the night before last by being worn by the lead singer of Kasabian for a gig in Paris

It's really nice though, another top draw effort from Umbro

(great tune to go with the ad campaign if this is going to be used btw....and amusing booing of the England shirt from les froglets!)

An odd choice to reveal it like that in France, the first public showing is guaranteed to get boos? However I suppose people will talk about it and it appeals to the nations hatred of France for Kasabian to be giving it to them in an England shirt so it should go viral

As for the shirt itself, meh

Agreed plain red with practically no design? Whoever got paid for designing robbed Umbro blind.

To be fair the white cuffs are quality (proper retro) but I never wear long sleeved shirts so lost on me, your point though is well made, any one of us on here could have designed that shirt:

" We need a new England Away top "
" What colour? "
" Red "
" Ok, take the City home shirt, change the blue to red, remove the sponsors logo and stick the England badge on instead of the City one "
" Excellent, off to the pub it is then "

Me and our Fu were taking about the City and England kits last night saying what good a job Umbro had done.

I did not read the thread on our new kit where it said we are having maroon on the socks and shorts which I think is fab. Fu said someone actually said that they did not understand why we were having maroon on our kit when it had nowt to do with City, did someone one actually say that???

I'm sure he said it was on here but he does read Bluemoon sometimes. If it's on Bluemoon I would take it with a pinch of salt. It's also been alleged that the away kit will be navy next season with hooped socks. I do love the idea of maroon trim though. Very retro. I will chat with the tanned one and see if there is any truth.

Was about to insert the obvious joke about John Terry modeling it but don't want people to know I'm secretly Dennis Norden.

This has nothing to do with City whatsoever and should be in the off topic.

The new England away is almost as good as the original 1966 one which I have got.

what's wrong with matching collars and cuffs.
Just misses for me

Its a fucking piss take

Might as well have just made a red t-shirt for us and flogged it for a fiver. Very nice to have all the advanced materials for the professional side, but they are just taking the fucking piss if they think they will sell that for £40 to punters, and the punters who buy it are bigger dicks.

Buy it here in an inferior quality, at t-shirt price in a few weeks

I cant see why everyone is going so mad about it being plain!! Isnt our home shirt not just plain blue with a white collar?? Yet I think both are great!! Defo look alot smarter.
