Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

So says Craig Bellamy...loved the new video he is doing for the Scouse1 game at home on the OS. I know I mentioned this on the Steven Ireland thread, but I really do not like our motto of 'Pride in Battle', I think it lacks class and exudes arrogance as Pride is generally a superficial feeling based on ones interpretation of whether you think your right or not...so goes the saying 'Pride comes before a fall' and fuck me we have done a lot of falling. In fact I believe our current motto is like a self fullfilling anti-prophesy Just wondering how others feel about our motto and should we have a rethink?
Hoping our new rollercoaster gives us the thrill of our lives.

Wasnt aware that it was a Vince Lombardi quote, but I like it more than 'pride in battle' and if it gives us an insight into what drives the mentality of Bellamy and the subsequent effort that is visible to everyone in the footballing world.

Wouldn't surprise me if Bellers had it tattooed on him somewhere.

NOOOOO, pride in battle is hard as fuck. Some fans need to stop trying so hard to find fault with the club and everything it does.

Glad we are 'stirring your juices' Wonderwall, but the problem is, particularly in the modern game, that many of them are not playing for pride...pride maybe restricted to the amateur game or the lower leagues but there are few players going out there week in week out in the premier league and playing with pride and it still doesnt detract from the fact that its ok to be proud but it is still a selfish feeling..its about how YOU feel about yourself or how you feel as a father watching your son score the winner in a FA cup final...you feel superior, you feel good about yourself/for your son, but I would believe more in the philosophy of 'band of brothers' where it is about self sacrifice for the good of the whole, about looking out for one another, etc....i'm boring myself..anyway maybe thats where the word SAP comes from...Sensitive Analytic Ponces..always wondered that.
PS Robinho kissing the badge at Santos just about sums up the attitude of many players....the opposite would be Johnsons display the other night..enjoying life and football

well personally i like Pride in Battle. I dont have a problem with pride, dont see it as negative particularly.
the problem starts if anyone displays too much pride for their own good.
conversely if you are someone who displays no pride at all, you are not going to be much use to a cause are you?
anyways i like the interpretaion of Pride as the name we use for a group of Lions that have formed a social unit ( family )

I think it's a top saying and Bellers definitely goes by it for every game.

"DURIORUS LABORE, DURUS DEDITIO"
i am somewhat lacking in comparative adverbs though.

I love it, it sums up how i'd feel if I ever got the chance to play for city.
IMF has it right down his forearm, I think it looks great, if I was a bit younger and single I think i'd like something like that?
