I would have to say that our game in hand in the league is more important. Win this one and it will put us in a very strong position and give us an excellent chance to finish top 4.

I see your point Kev but if we lose today there's a chance that it will have bad effects on the squad, and we could end losing in the League too. I'm actually very undecided on which one is more important, because of this.

Cup the by some distance. I mean lose to them in the league and we'd STILL be in run for top four (although admittely outside chance), lose in the cup and that's our last chance of seeing us win silverware gone.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Cup game certainly, I can't understand why there'd even be a discussion.

We could redeem a bad result in the league by beating Liverpool. With no rags left in the cup & Chelsea pre occupied, this is our biggest chance to win it since 81. If we win it, we're in sniffing distance of wembley & the excitement of that would get rid of the rags hangover, so it's important for the league run in too.

This is the FA Cup we're taliking about, not the League cup. It's the biggest trophy we could realistically win & if we do so, it'll change the whole mentality of the club.

We have a much better chance of finishing in the top 4 (5/4) than we have of winning the FA Cup (4/1).

Therefore, the league game is far more important.

The problem is that the cup game comes first and losing it may have repercussions on the morale, and thus on the league.

We only need to win 4 games to win the FA Cup.

What is best for the club or what is best for the season?

If we are playing Champions League football next season then it will be far easier to acquire the better players in the summer, the season is a small battle in a great war, i'd rather see Real Madrid and Barca coming to get beat in Manchester.

That wasn't the question though, it was which Stoke game is the most crucial. We could still get in the chumps lg if we lose to Stoke but there are no 2nd chances in the FA Cup.

Therefore i'd choose the Midweek game, i'm not saying go light on the Cup game, but I wouldnt take any chances. Tuesday needs to be full strength, especially since we're away!!

They are as important as each other. If we lost to Stoke at home it would most certainly have a knock on effect for the mid-week game.

Win both I say and have none of this 'We can concentrate on...' bullshit afterwards.

The next game is always the most important game so therefor the cup game is more important!

Its an extension of the 4th vs Silverware discussion, so if I thought Stoke away was a must win game for fourth I'd be all over it. While it isn't, it would give the dippers extra verve if we lose on Tue, so its still a tough one.

What about win today and draw on Tue??

I'll have that.

i just don't know, I said at the beginning that I fancied 4th place above all else, but now the only other really top team left in the FA cup is Chelski I am starting to wonder - add to that a loss at stoke doesn't necesserily mean we'll not get 4th place I have to say the cup win today is most important

FA Cup. I want us to get to a final to get some silverware so badly.

And even if we somehow lost at Stoke we'd have a good chance for the 4th spot!

i wouldn't want our manager or players to be thinking like this.. ie which is most important. I would want City to be focused on winning this game and getting into the next round.
Come the league match i would want them also to be hell bent on winning the game.
so why should i take an iether or ?

today the cup game is more important to our season, Sat the league will be.

If we lose today, it will effect our players mentally so it is of vital importance not to lose.
If we lose on Sat the vultures will start circling and extra pressure will be heaped on our Club, that and the fact that we would make it even fuclin tougher to grab 4th spot.

As City fans it is difficult to have a WIn Win WIn attitude to all games, but that is what the team are trying to build up, and for me the next two games are the chance for some solid practice against a difficult side. If we compete with Stoke well and then show our class we can take both games..and get a chance for some improvement ready for the Scouce, Spuds and Chelski games coming up.

If we are serious we need to win both games against Stoke
