In our quest for 4th, we have an interesting alignment of fixtures. The teams challenging with us and the few below them: Scouse 1 and 2, Spuds, Villa, Brum. We have played them all away and now have all of them at hoime to come, with us being level in 4th, 1 GD difference behind and 2 games in hand on Scouse 1.
So, it's in our hands and on our own soil. Perfect alignment, or machine-gun-our-feet-off-again scenario. Take your pick.
I think Spuds may be crumbling.
We have 14 games left. Let's assume (!) we win our 2 in hand and have a dozen games to go. Same as Scouse 1, the real threat for 4th. They would need 7 more points than us from 12 matches. If we can win, say 8, lose 2 and draw 2 of those last 12, they would need 33 points from 12 to beat our 26.
So, we need 8 wins from 12 or 10 from 14. Doable, even playing like shite. This league is not that strong. I may well be over-simplfying, but those are the plain facts. If we beat Scouse 1, the picture starts to look a whole lot rosier too, with them having 11 games, needing to win them all, which they probably won't
In short, Sunday's game is the biggest of the season for us, bar none.
