Home sweet home...

Just occurred to me, sorry if I repeating info in another thread...
In our quest for 4th, we have an interesting alignment of fixtures. The teams challenging with us and the few below them: Scouse 1 and 2, Spuds, Villa, Brum. We have played them all away and now have all of them at hoime to come, with us being level in 4th, 1 GD difference behind and 2 games in hand on Scouse 1.
So, it's in our hands and on our own soil. Perfect alignment, or machine-gun-our-feet-off-again scenario. Take your pick.
I think Spuds may be crumbling.
We have 14 games left. Let's assume (!) we win our 2 in hand and have a dozen games to go. Same as Scouse 1, the real threat for 4th. They would need 7 more points than us from 12 matches. If we can win, say 8, lose 2 and draw 2 of those last 12, they would need 33 points from 12 to beat our 26.
So, we need 8 wins from 12 or 10 from 14. Doable, even playing like shite. This league is not that strong. I may well be over-simplfying, but those are the plain facts. If we beat Scouse 1, the picture starts to look a whole lot rosier too, with them having 11 games, needing to win them all, which they probably won't
In short, Sunday's game is the biggest of the season for us, bar none.

I was thinking something similar earlier but I actually think that Sunday's league game is one of the most important (right end of the top flight) matches in my lifetime

We're capable of winnining all of those home games if we pull our fingers out. Been saying for a while I think the scouse game is one of the biggest for a long long time. Hope the fans realise it & give it the 'Hamburg'. Scouse will fold if we do.

Exactly, if the fans create the same atmosphere and spur the team on to a similar performance as they did on that special night, we'll bury them.

The key is how we play. OK, specialist subject the bleeding obvious. We have been playing crap of late, yet are still equal 4th. We cannot go on performing badly, we must find some form, it's the law of averages. If we do, it's there for the taking. Big wide open door, all we have to do is walk right through it. We have been immense at home for a year or so, now is the time to ram it, well, home.

We have to be positive. This is the club of our dreams. Reason has nothing to do with it. We could rip them open tomorrow. And on Sunday, we have to give of our hearts. And they must match our passion.

And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know I am the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you.

Well done that man! Although I take every game in my stride I mentally work out what we need to get to a given position. Optimism is my trademark and after many lack-lustre games I stll think Mancio can do it - with ease. Dippers is a massive game, but even if we have a 'mare, I think we will still do the contenders.

Very exciting. I think the next few games, cup replay and against L'pool, Chelsea and Spurs will define our season. And Manicinis future.

I don't like to do all this looking ahead and working out points etc etc. I just want to see us play some good football and win some key games. We haven't won a key game for what seems an age and there are a few just in front of us now so no time like the present.

I'd be happy enough with winning games, at least until the end of the season.
