whats your favorite counterattack goal of the season sofar?

Postby blue wine » Mon Feb 15, 2010 2:32 pm

mine is the goal against barca..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0oRkTDtYeK8

if you stop the video at 1:59 just look at how we stood.. a straight line a the back and a straight five in midfield...perfect tactically.

and then the way we pass the ball 3 times to split the barca defense..has to be one of my fav counterattack goals of all time.

SWP vs Arse in the league.

Bellamy taking the ball in his own half and running 30 yards before sending it to SWP. Must have taken all of 7 seconds to turn from defence to goal.

Excellent thread. That goal was a joy to watch.

Image

The set-up with 4 at the back and 5 in the middle was very structured, cutting out anything in the middle. If Barca had gone wide right they might have got a 1 on 1 situation though.

Image
I just love the fact that when we got the ball back we broke with such power and pace. It's 6 against 5 in this break. Lovely to see especially after such nice passing from Ireland and Tevez

Image
What I like the most about this goal is the fact that when Petrov shoots we have Tevez and Ireland ahead of 2 Barca defenders. There was real desire to get towards the goal from our players there.

From winning the ball to putting it in the back of the net took just 3 passes and 9 seconds. Brill!

Only downside it was a friendly game :-(

SWP vs the Arse was the first thing to come to mind as soon as i saw this thread.

not just for the footy - the whole stadium went fucking barmy at 4-1.

what a game that was.

I absolutely LOVED that game mate.

It had a bit of everything. But most important it was gripping from start to finish.

The goal that never was v Wolves when Tevez bobbled it wide would have been even better. He really owed it to the Gods of football to score that one.

SWP would win it otherwise for me.

Yeah that's right, there was two 30 yard one-twos in the build up, would have been goal of the season without doubt.

Why can't we just play with that vigour now, it was obviously working!!

I think this football is depressing you more than me chief!!

Thing is, as Ted said, that goal that NEARLY happened against wolves was some move and that was under Mancini, so we can hope and pray he reverts back to it....

We hav eit in us to knock the shit out of teams. I hope we try to tomorrow night and of course on Sunday.

Actually I really enjoyed the first 12 minutes because I thought we were going to go for it... we definitely have it in our locker, possibaly more than 17 teams in the league. Lets go for it tomorrow night and make up for the fuck up on Saturday.

IT IS....THE THING IS IF WE ARE PANTS AT HOME WITH SO MUCH DEFENDING WHAT FUCKING CHANCE DO WE HAVE AWAY?

I CANNOT GET EXCITED BEFORE A GAME ANYMORE....I FUCKING HOPE THAT CHANGES AS IM REALLY NEGATIVE AT THE MOMENT.
HOPEFULLY WE CAN REPOST ON HERE WHEN WE SCORE WITH A BRETHTAKING COUNTER ATTACK TOMORROW.!!

that's right...we sure did. i was convinced we'd found our feet and just gotten some things sorted. Then by about the 30 minute mark i practically had forgotten everything i'd seen.

cheers

I was the first one to give mine mate - it was the SWP goal against arse when bellers robbed the ball and set him up. Class. I liked bellers against united, but it was more of a fuck up from camel lip than anything...
