News Of The World saying we are to bid £140m for Gerrard & Torres.
Sounds a great deal of money even for two top quality players who have had their fair share of injuries recently.
I'd love both to be at City, but £140m?
Any thoughts..

Would have preferred Gerrard to almost anyone if asked earlier in the season but watching him since, I'm not sure he's got that long left before his powers wane to the extent that he'll cease to be a top class player. He can still win any game but he doesn't have the same energy he used to & there's enough of a doubt to make it a big & unneccessary gamble anyway.

I'd take Torres because it would take the hope out of the club.
I'd Gerrard because it would take the soul out of the club.
But we'd gain an injury prone world class striker and an injury prone 30 year old attacking midfielder.
Is Liverpool's soul and hope worth 140m? Because the reality from a footballing point of view is that they have a combined value of half that amount.

It's interesting that you look at it from weakening Liverpool rather than strengthening us. Brings about another question, would we take someone who is not a world beater, wouldn't necessarily be the top player we need, just to lessen our rivals chances? Can that actually work?

I would prefer Aguero or Villa to Torres, great striker he may be but he's hardly ever fit

Be interesting to see how Gerrard plays today.
Of the two players I'd prefer Torres as IMO we need a world class striker and with Liverpool's finance problems we could take advantage of the situation. Gerrard as a squad player would be very useful as we will have more matches to play next season and his experience would prove invaluable.

Interesting way of looking at it. I don't think Gerrard would be the same plyer for any other club even when fit. I think his heart wouldn't be in it the same.

stupid price, we should not be giving our close rivals £140 million to spend, its just stupid, they are not worth anywhere near that.

I wouldnt pay more then 15 for gerrard given his age and current form
id pay 30mil tops for torres considering hes a fairy that will end up playing 10-15 games a season and we could get villa from an equally cash strapped club for a similar price
i dont care who we buy, we shouldnt be held to ransom. Its not like liverpool can turn down a cash deal from us when the alternative is a 400 years of installments at £70 a week (this may be a slight exaggeration)

They wouldn't be able to spend it though if reports are to be believed.

If ladyboy waiter is worth 80 million to Madrid then Torres is worth 50/60 million tops...as much as I loathe the diving winking twat...he's a better all round player

I'd welcome Torres because even three quarters of a season from him would be an invaluable contribution. I'd also welcome the new Gerrard. Let's go and find him!
It's going to be Newspaper rubbish, though. But if I was a Liverpool Fan and this happened then I'd be rioting outside Anfield.

If I was a fanatical England fan, I'm just a mild one, I would be worried about Gerrard. Is he in decline?

Seeing him in the flesh now compared to a few years ago, he's either injured or he has declined. Nowhere near the same player. Still more involved & dangerous than our Stevie though, which is quite a worry.

Silly obscene money. I wouldn't want either at that price. In fact I don't think Gerrard would leave them anyway and I reckon he his past his peak and we wouldn't get the best from him for a final pay day.. They may not be able to refuse an outstanding offer on Torres as they do have £100 mil to pay off on a loan before end of March, but nearer £40 mil.

How gutted would we be to sign these 2, just for them to miss the first 10 games of the season through injury.
Top striker, same money = David Villa
Ace Midfielder, same age, same money = Xavi
I'd rather have my 2.
