How do you know he'd be any good in the transfer market though? I'd rather have someone who has proven he can buy great players, like Jose. Though I'm not saying I want to get rid of our current manager.

im sure he has had a fair bit of money available to spend for a while now but he just doesnt like spending it.

Wenger refusing to shake Hughes' hand after the Carling Cup Match showed what an ungracious, moaning man he really is. I don't want him anywhere near City. Arsenal's "49" Team were one of the finest I've ever seen, though. I've give him that.

Bingo I agreed with you entirely on the other thread, and disagree entirely on this one. As KK says he's won fuck-all lately.

He takes great pride in getting knocked out of cup competitions by fielding children (do we really want that?), and is totally myopic about the failings of his own team. He cannot see what players he lacks, it only matters that 'een a few years he will be a great player'. Which most of the time, they aren't.

Dont forget this guy inherited one of the best defences ever - Seaman, Dixon, Adams, Keown/Bould, Winterburn, and built his early success on it. If he hadn't had those players who would he have 'developed'?

Well I wud say that his last few buys (if there is such a word) speak for themselves: Arshavin, Vermaelen and Sagna ?

I used to love Wenger but he's living off past glories nowadays. Can't see him ever coming to us now that we are ruining football as he constantly pointed out for the first 4 months of this season to anyone that would listen to him.

Pro's have already been mentioned & as for his lack of spending; I think the only reason he doesn't spend lots of money is because he can't, so he lies about it to take the pressure off the club which is brave management. No worries for me on that score.

My worry about Wenger is that although his team's attacking ability is the best ever in the PL & which he is 100% responsible for, the defence in his Arsenal team was a system which he inherited & was built by George Graham & Don Howe (using similar but more extreme training methods to those now employed by Mancini). That solidarity was passed on through Adams to Keown & co to Campbell etc.

Now the Don Howe influence has finally worn off & gone, so has his defence & he has no idea what to do about it, that's why he's taken the desperate measure of bringing back Sol Campbell.

I'm not sure he will ever build a defence himself.

I agree with that, but I'm sure our defence now would be able to cope for the next 5/6 years.
