I watched this again last night and now feel that, yes it is a good weapon however the rules of the game are being flaunted by Stoke every game ! WHEN WE PLAY THEM AGAIN AWAY, AS A PISS TAKE, BELlAMY SHOULD TAKE ALL THE THROW INS AND WE SHOULD GET A FUCKING SET OF MCFC TOWELS OUT OF THE SHOP AND USE THE SUBS TO PASS THEM TO BELLERS TO DRY THE BALL, HE SHOULD THEN CHANGE HIS MIND AND PASS IT TO ANOTHER PLAYER !!! how long would this be tolerated, not fucking long I say. It is a great tactic to have Delap but he does waste a lot of real time doing this, why arn't others playing fuck about it ?

Delap was taking in excess of 30 seconds to take throw ins the other night against us, he should have been booked for times wasting.

He might think it`s great now but in 20 yrs that`s all he will be remembered for.....a long throw in lets compare this to Dennis Tueart an overhead kick goal in a cup final....Wow bory delap.

Please God, no! I know they're probably not going to go down, so at some point we'll have to play them again, but I don't want to even think about it...feels like the Stoke games have gone on forever.
Nice idea about the towels, though.

I was listening to a referee on TalkSport or 5Live the other day and he said that they allow it because it adds to the drama of the game and that if anyone else wanted to do it, they would get exactly the same treatment.
Think we need to buy a 7 foot player just for the Stoke games to stand in front of him when he throws!

anyone remeber a few years back when Neill Pointon was at Oldham, he started wearing american football gloves, which have a load of grippy shit on them, to take throw ins. Other teams kicked off about it and he was banned from wearing them.

It might not be pretty but in my opinion its whats keeping them in the premier league.
He has used it very effectivley the past 2 seasons, below is a list of goals that were a result of his throws.
Its shocking tactic to have to rely so much upon but its very effective all the same.

Interesting that the vast majority of those were at The Britannia Stadium.
I suppose having a pitch that is only 8 yards wide comes in handy if you can't actually play football.

I know you've got to play to your strengths, but it makes them one-trick ponies - however effective that trick may be - and a bit of a joke. Especially the way they set up their whole pitch to cater for it.

I broadly concur that Rory Delap throws are one of the most hideous goal assists of all time - but if it keeps Stoke in the Premier League then it works. Pulis has found a tactic that causes problems for the Opposition.
At least Wimbledon and their long ball game were full of spirit, though. Stoke City are NOT a Premiership Club.

Yeah it's ugly stuff but it works for them. Stoke are in the PL on merit (ie points gained) so whinging like bitches about it makes us and others look a bit sad imo

Exactly, they've got those goals from scoring from a set piece, its just like scoring from a corner or free kick! They may be an unattractive team to watch but they have made themselves a team thats hard to beat, particularly at home and our currently sitting mid-table on merit.

The only good thing about Delaps throw-ins is the knowledge that he will suffer later in life with very painful rheumatism in his shoulders and won't be able to lift a fuckin spoon to feed himself with.

He'll have made enough money though that he can pay someone to feed him, probably a nice leggy blonde
