The new 'optimistic' points prediction thread!

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

I know it is fun to try and predict results for us and also other teams, but it really doesn't matter.

We all know that 70/71 points will get us 4th spot. That leaves 21/22 points required in our last 11 games ...... and it doesn't really matter how or where they they come from!!

Us, L'pool, Spuds and Villa will all drop points against teams we don't expect to ..... but will also pick up points we didn't expect either.

Over the last 10/11 games there will be lots of twists and turns and I am only too pleased we are going into the run in with a real challenge and everything to play for.

I beleive we will do it, but accept that there will be some cagey moments on the way. Probably beat Manyoo with a last minute goal, draw with the likes of Wigan etc, etc.

We mustn't allow ourselves to get too pissed off with an unexpected defeat .... or get too carrid away with a result like yesterday at Chelski.

Each game must now be treated like a Cup Final. Win 7 of them and that should be enough.
Relax ... It's only a message board in hyperspace!!

Im reckoning 2 wins, 7 draws, and 2 defeats. I think we will see alot of draws. just my opinion.

Grob does know his Football. He's better at summing up a fair and reasoned view than almost anyone on this Forum.

I think he's very wrong with his 2 wins comment, though.

I agree :-)

in reference to Grob's view of just two wins and a lot of draws.. Grob mate what is you thinking behind that view?

anyways this is my take.. which is based on us continuing to improve very slightly in linking with Attack and being very difficult to beat - so no loses !

Sunderland Away - More difficult than usual cos they need a result but a Win
Fulham Away - Key game for our morale, usually lose so it is vital not to lose. Draw
Wigan Home - Another relegation team, difficult game, scrape a Win
Burnley Away - ditto, we salvage a Draw
Brum Home - Loss of their regular Goalie will fuck them up - Win ( possibly convincing Win )
Scum Home - Top performance and a morale boostin Win
Arsenal Away - aka Chelsea - we f*ck them up and grab a Win
Villa Home - Depends where Villa are.. but i will go with a Draw
West Ham Away - they have nothing to play for - Easiest Win of the season

TBC: Tottenham Home - Bogey team time.. anything not to lose - Draw
TBC: Everton Home - Nervous one this - Draw/Win

6/7 Wins = 18 - 21 pts
4/5 Draws = 4 - 5 pts

18 + 5 = 23 pts
21 + 4 = 25 pts

74 pts 3rd or 4th depending on Arsenal

Being about as ubiased as I can possibly be:

Sunderland Away - Win
Fulham Away - Draw
Wigan Home - Win
Burnley Away - Draw
Brum Home - Win
Scum Home - Draw
Arsenal Away - Lose
Villa Home - Draw
West Ham Away - Win

Tottenham Home - Win
Everton Home - Draw

69, so just short of the 70 mark. I hope I'm wrong.

However with my optomists hat on we'll piss it with 77 points:

Sunderland Away - Win
Fulham Away - Draw
Wigan Home - Win
Burnley Away - Win
Brum Home - Win
Scum Home - Win
Arsenal Away - Lose
Villa Home - Win
West Ham Away - Win

Tottenham Home - Win
Everton Home - Win

in keeping with the optimistic points thing..

i have Arsenal to finish on 73pts ( 1pt below us )

dropping these points
v Hull Draw
v Brum Loss ( Joe does his bit for us )
v Spurs Loss ( spuds final fling )
v City Loss ( will be billed as the 'battle for 3rd' and we will crush them )

I have had a rethink and now i will say that i think we can get 77pts and who knows possibly 3rd place.

10PTS from our remaining away fixtures.
18PTS from our remaining home fixtures.

I still think the way the teams set out now we will beat our bogey Spuds at home, and Everton were pretty dire away last week. We owe them something. 2 wins for me, otherwise agree.

So where are we now guys? I'm now feeding on a wave of new optimism at, modest though it was, one of our best 3-game away sequences in the top flight for some considerable time. Bearing in mind our strength is at home where we are undefeated (and adding the wonder-boy AJ), I'm backing the lads to do the following, if they can mostly stay fit, laying to rest the Everton and Spuds ghosts to go with all the others:

Everton H W
Wigan H W
Burnley A W
Brum H W
Scum H W
Arsenal A L
Villa H W
Spuds H W
WHam A D

Giving us an extra 22 points, a total of 75 and 4th place.

Anyone revising opinions yet? those who had us down to draw against Brum maybe? Or lose at Fulham and Burnley?

Caught up a wave of opitimism by the way we are playing, I´m going for it!!

Scum W
Arse W
Villa W
Spuds W
W Ham W

77 points, bugger it!
