Stumbled across the league table for the start of March in 2009. Thought it would make for some interesting reading regarding this season. I was a bit surprised how similiar the table looks as I thought the top teams were way ahead of the rest.

14 points ahead of where we were last year with a game in hand...in some sections of society that might be deemed as progress ;-)

I'm more interested in the teams in position 1-5 from last year and where they finished up at the end of the year. Liverpool and Arsenal gained a lot of points (as did Chelsea and United) in the March to May window whereas the top 4 wannabe's drifted out of the picture completely.

Something similiar will happen this season too with these teams. Whether Spurs, Villa and City can hang on will be interesting.

The bottom half must be a lot worse than in many years, seeing that there are som many teams on +40 points already.

Does anyone remember Villa's March run last season? If I remember right, they didn't win a game and they blamed it on O'Neils March hoodoo. I personally put it down to them giving up in the UEFA Cup and going for 4th. Maybe the loss in the CC will have the same effect or maybe the hoodoo will kick in!

Seem to remember a lot of booing against Agbonglahor as well.

Also I forgot that we had lost 13 games by this time last year!

Progress from last year no doubt about it!

I did think the points would have been very different at the top, so to see Chelsea have 3 more points and united to be 5 or so behind last year is a stange on. Obviously, although they've been losing more games, they also been winning more!

It depends on the total number of draws, though, as the more draws there are overall, the less points there are to be distributed.

You're right about that professor! Had a hectic day at work, so the brain wasn't really working at its best.
I guess we're the main culprits!

Definitely. I think 36 will be enough for safety this time round.
