Yeah it was an aneurysm in his brain whilst at Lincoln about 7 years ago

I saw him on that North West Goals programme only the other night, sat next to Blackpool's Ben Burgess. He always came across as a really likeable character.. a really top bloke.

He was a kind gently spoken man really, always seemed happy to spend a moment with you when others in football circles would simply walk away I suspect. A true pioneer breaking through the race barrier and also a very good manager under serious budget constraints.
I have also played with his son Paul also a really good lad for whom I feel desperately sorry. Condolences to all at such a terrible time.
