I have a Hellas Verona shirt as a result. A good holiday read IMHO especially for fans who have followed teams though thick and thin and thinner....

Chievo is short for Chievo Verona. The president of Hellas said that the day that Chievo make the Serie A donkeys will fly. The first Verona derby in Serie A had the yellow section of the crowd waving donkeys with wings. Chievo stayed up that season inspired by goals from a certain Bernardo Corradi, Hellas went down.

Correct, Dazby, and I remember that was the best season of Bernardo's not so good career as striker!
Now Chievo is a good middle table club of serie A with less than 15.000 fans at all.

In a suburb of 6000 people.

I could only say this: Italian defenders are actually the worst all over Europe! I watched for my job Juve-Siena and oh gods how ridicolous was the level of both squads, mates!
