Taking the dispassionate stance few will find popular, this is sad for him really...he hasn't looked horrible with Milan.

Maybe a shout for AJ tho? today won't hurt.

cheers

If SWP gets his act together he will be on the plane, Lennons injury is also not looking good so he will never have a better chance.

No Beckham media circus, no "I love United me" press conferences, and for a player who cant run anymore and scores with 1 in every 356 free kicks I'd say its a blessing in disguise.

Maybe that poxy scarf he plonked on his back on wednesday poisoned him. Just a thought.

This can only be good for England ,.. Imo Cappello seems his own man .But , and I have nothing to back this up I just feel he is under pressure to pick Beckham in his squad, Now that cloud is lifted frees up for Swp and Johnson .

Not a nice injury...done it myself. It's like someone hitting you forcefully in the back of the leg with a stick, then the tendon goes up the back of your leg ...feels like a worm or snake wriggling up, and there is fuck all you can do about it.

I'm not a fan of the bloke, but you never want to see any play suffer injury. I hope he recovers asap

As an England supporter im dissappointed from him. This was obviously his last chance to go to a world cup. I think he handles the media circus of a life he has to lead well. I think he's been a great ambassador for the england team and a role model for younger players.

I also think his ability on the ball and desire off the bench could have been a key part of the team in SA. He will be missed.

Good for Jonno though potentially.

I've actually grown to like him the past few weeks/months, he seems like one of the few footballers who's a genuine nice guy. Apart from that anything that harms englands world cup chances is good by me!

I think this is actually maybe the kindest thing in a perverse way. I think Capello ought to have been harbouring doubts over whether he could exclude one of Walcott, Lennon, SWP, Johnson in order to accomodate a player whose most telling contribution was likely to come via a late stage free kick or delivery into the box.

Despite the fact that you can accuse all of the above of being either inconsistent and/or unproven...I think that they all can make much more of an all round contribution than it was looking as if Beckham was capable of on the basis of recent showings. Cruel to be kind this but for the sake of our chances in SA I'm actually relieved for the team...but sad for Beckham.

Everyone is entitled to their own views and I can see why some choose to dislike him but I'll never forget that performance against Greece. We wouldn't have been at the 2002 World Cup were it not for Beckham and he certainly would get my sympathy for this cruel blow on the basis of that alone. As it is, I think there are so many more reasons to wish him well.

Hopefully the press will focus on the football now then instead of worrying about what fuckin hairstyle Beckham will go to the world cup with. Can't see Johnson getting into Capello's team at this late stage i think he already has his squad mapped out.

I think it does people on here great credit that they can empathise with Beckham & is a side of City fans that's often hidden amongst all the bile directed at our neighbours & one which gives the club a better image in the eyes of neutrals than the bitter, twisted obsessed, individuals some of us have become.

Unfortunately, in the case of Beckham, I am unable to share it & hope it hurt the self publicising, arse licking, overrated, rag twat like fuck.

Despite limited playing tiome so far this season, I think Joe Cole would be considered ahead of Johnson, if he remains fit
